Student achievements shared with Gentry's school board

— Brae Harper, Gentry High School principal, presented the following report to the school board on Oct. 15 regarding recent student honors and accomplishments:

  1. Emilia Barrick - Elected District 7 secretary for FBLA and represented Gentry as a district officer at the Fall Leadership Conference.
  2. Forensics (competitive speaking) Team placed first at the Bentonville Tiger Eye Classic. Chance Silvey placed second in storytelling, Sam Isbell placed third in storytelling, CheyenneDobson placed third in oratory and Chandler Wright was a solo finalist.
  3. The Gentry High School Band received a Division 2 rating of excellent at the Hillbilly Invitational at Ozark and a Division 1 superior rating and outstanding color guard and drum major at the Elkins Invitational.
  4. FCCLA participated at the Arkansas/Oklahoma State Fair food/cooking event. Abby Paczowski placed first, Bailey Metz placed second and Danielle Ain placed seventh, with 132 competitors.
  5. Kristen Flesner, Krystin Cox and CaitlynBeach made the NWA All-Region Choir, and Mallory Morris and Hannah Rabb were chosen as alternates. Kristen Flesner qualified to try out for All State Choir in February.

Early voting started this week. If you are going to be unable to get to the polls on Election Day, be sure and visit one of the early voting places and get your opinion recorded.
