Students launch anti-drug week

— Students at the Decatur Northside Elementary School are taking a stand against drug abuse this week.

The school is celebrating Red Ribbon Week with fun dress-up days, an educational program and a balloon release.

Red Ribbon Week is a national event focused on educating children about the dangers of illegal drugs and is sponsored by the National Family Partnership.

Decatur students will celebrate the week by wearingred on Tuesday, wearing sports clothing for “Team Up Day” on Wednesday, wearing crazy socks for “Sock it to Drugs Day” on Thursday and wearing pajamas for “Put Drugs to Sleep Day” on Friday.

Students will finish the week by releasing red balloons on Friday morning.
