Annual Gentry Quilt Show winners announced

— A list of winners was announced for the annual Gentry Quilt Show, held from Oct. 12 through Oct. 19 in the McKee Community Room.

Best of Show was wonby Nancy Quam of Decatur; Best Hand Quilted, Sue Etris of Decatur; Best Machine Quilted, Sharon Martin of Colcord, Okla.; Best Children's Quilt, Elva Hendren of Colcord; Best Use of Mixed Technique, Lorna Pumphrey of Bentonville;

Honorable Mention Hand Quilted, Madge Whittemore of Huntsville; Honerable Mention Machine Quilted, Christine White of Gentry; Best Use of Color, Nancy Quam of Decatur; and Viewers’ Choice, Nancy Quam of Decatur.

Janie Parks, organizer for the annual event, voiced her appreciation for all the help and service to make the show possible.

Parks said, “I would like to thank all the quilters that allowed us to display their works ofart for the public to see; McKee Foods for their generous contribution, allowing us to have free admission for viewers; Sager Creek Quilts in Siloam Springs for its donation of prizes for the winners; and all the helpers and volunteerswho made this 2012 Quilt Show a success - Jo Ellen Martin, Darla Threet, Jackie Whitehead, Geraldine Tisdale, Caroline West, Willa Kennedy, Pat Barnes, Sue Etris, Martha Hawkins, Toni Sarratt, Clara Garrett and Mike Parks.”
