Beggs earns $1,000 scholarship

— Courtney Beggs, of Decatur, has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Arkansas Hospitality Association.

Beggs is currently a student at the Northwest Arkansas Community College and a 2012 graduate of the Gravette High School. She was awarded the scholarship in recognition of her academic background, workexperience, career goals and commitment to the hospitality industry, according to a press release from the AHA.

The AHA is the official voice of the restaurant, lodging and tourism industry in the state.

The scholarship is intended to provide opportunities for professional training as well as career advancement for students pursuing jobs in culinary arts, tourism, restaurant and hotelmanagement and other hospitality fields.

“Our scholarships help students gain further knowledge and skills that will, in turn, offer numerous opportunities and success in a growing and thriving industry,” said Montine McNulty, AHA executive director. “The Arkansas Hospitality Association is honored to be able to support this student as she pursues her education and life-long career goals.”
