— Decatur High School is partnering with Razor C.O.A.C.H. to provide college and career planning for at-risk students, according to high school principal Deborah Coffer.

Decatur, Gravette and Gentry high schools will be among the 17 Northwest Arkansas schools participating in the pilot program, according to an article in the University of Arkansas Newswire.

Fifteen graduate students in the college’s counselingprogram were hired to provide the counseling services, it states.

The program is funded by a three-year, $1.5 million grant from the Walton Family Foundation, and the program is organized and funded through a partnership between the Walton Family Foundation, the University of Arkansas College of Education and Health Professions, the Northwest Arkansas Council’s Educational Excellence Work Group and the Northwest Arkansas Education Service Coopera-tive, the article states.

Select Decatur students met with a coach on Thursday and received an application, and a parents’ meeting was held on Monday night to answer any questions and help parents fill out the application papers, Coffer said.

Students who apply to participate in the program will be selected at random because spots are limited, she said.

More information is available on the Razor C.O.A.C.H. Facebook page.
