— The last weeks were tough for the Lady Pioneers in play against West Fork and Pea Ridge.

On Thursday, Aug. 30, West Fork beat Gentry at the net, 16-25, 21-25 and 11-25.

On Tuesday, , Sept. 4, the varsity volleyball team fell toPea Ridge in three of the four sets: 9-25, 9-25, 26-24, 25-27.

“In the first two sets we looked like we weren't in the game mentally,” said coach Daren Ward, “but during the time-out before the third set our girls rallied together and refused to give up, which obviously allowed us to make a game out of it.”

Junior Jordan Olds led theway offensively with 5 kills and defensively with 9 digs, and Junior Sierra Smith had 6 digs.

“Consistency has been our biggest question mark so far,"

Ward said. "I hope the team that showed up for the last two sets will be here the rest of the year, because that team can accomplish great things the rest of the season."
