Man arrested for burglary

— Billy Joe McDonald, 32, was arrested on Sept. 2 for allegedly breaking into a home owned by the late Dorothy Mae Peterson.

Police received a call from an alarm company about 5:45 a.m., Sept. 2. They responded to the house and found a glass door had been smashed, according to the police report.

McDonald was found wandering in the area and had a strong smell of intoxicants, the report stated. Nothing was taken from the house even though it contained a large number of collectibles and antiques, according to the police report. Peterson’s collection of antiques is up for auction later this month.

On Monday, McDonald was being held inthe Benton County Jail on two felony charges of residential burglary with a $5,000 bond.
