— The city council voted to accept the resignation of Gina Holt for the Ward 1, Position 2 city council position and appointed Robin Heath to serve in her place.

Mayor Charles Linam told the council that Holt has moved out of the area. Holt submitted her resignation in an email to Linam, dated Aug. 15, and explained she was resigning for personal reasons.

“I hope that the time Ispent serving on the city council was a help to the community. I wish the best of luck to you, the council, and the city,” she wrote.

“We all hate to see Gina leave,” Linam said.

Heath has filed for the Ward 1, Position 2, council seat and will run unopposed in November. Linam recommended appointing her so the council will not have to go three or four months with an empty position.

Heath will be sworn into office at the October council meeting.
