Pioneers lose 2 while away

— The Heber Springs Panthers rolled past the visiting Gentry Pioneers 38-6 in Friday's non-league contest.

The Pioneers scored a single touchdown in the fourth, but the damage was already done, with the Panthers up by 38 coming into the final quarter. No Gentry team stats were available at press time.

The Charleston Tigers also defeated the Gentry Pioneers 52-21 in the Sept. 9 non-league bout played at Charleston.

Though the Pioneers gave fight in the first quarter, scoring two touchdowns and points after, finishing the quarter down 18-14, the Pioneers only scored once more in the third quarter, while Charleston picked up another 14 points in both the second and third quarters, putting the Pioneers down 48-21 at the end of three.

The Pioneers were shut out in their final attempts to put points on the board, with the Tigers adding an extra touchdown in the fourth.

The Pioneers (1-2) now prepare to meet the challenging Farmington Cardinals in Pioneer stadium at 7 p.m. Friday. The Cardinals come to the 4A Region 1 game with a 3-0 record. In their last gridiron contest, Farmington walloped Paris, 26-0, in non-conference play.
