Gentry beats Lincoln, falls before Gravette

— The Lady Pioneers traveled to Lincoln and played a strong match Sept. 17 and, after dropping the third set, came back to seal their victory in the fourth.

Set scores were: 25-15, 26-24, 19-25 and 25-16.

“We battled hard throughout the evening and had a few comebacks as well,” said Gentry coach Daren Ward. “Our leaders - senior setter Emilia Barrick and junior outside hitter Jordan Olds - helped us get into an offense consistently, and our defensive execution was solid throughout. Overall, I was proud of our effort,” Ward said.

The Gentry girls fought hard, keeping scores close early on in the sets against a more seasoned Gravette team on Sept. 18 at Gentry High School, but the consistent fielding and kills by the Lady Lions proved too much for the Lady Pioneers.

Scores were 10-25, 8-25 and 14-25, with Gravette finishing Gentry in three sets.

The Farmington girls, too, proved too much for the young visiting Gentry team. Farmington won the Thursday match in three sets, 14-25, 9-25 and 13-25.

Gentry was to play Lincoln again at home on Tuesday, after press time.
