Loriean Bengs

Loriean Bengs, 96, died March 23, 2013, at Siloam Springs.

She was born Aug. 10, 1916, at Manitou, Okla., to Oscar Lee and Amy B. Hallmark Cooper. She was the oldest of 13 children and grew up in Snyder, Okla. She graduated from Central State College in Edmond, Okla., with a bachelor of science degree in education and began her teaching career in a oneroom country schoolhouse at Greenwood in 1942. In 1965 she started teaching second grade at Washington Elementary School in Kingfisher, Okla., and retired from there in May of 1978. She was an active member of the Oklahoma Education Association during her teaching career and a former member of Oak Street Baptist Church in Kingfisher. She married Ben W. Bengs on Nov. 24, 1943.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a grandson, James Francis Bengs; and nine brothers and sisters.

Survivors include one son, Kenneth W. Bengs and wife Ruth of Kingfisher; one daughter, Joyce K. Cowin and husband Robin of Gentry; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bonnie Bertch of Texas, and Fannie Flaming of New Mexico; and one brother, Martin Cooper of Tennessee.

Funeral services were March 28 at Oak Street Baptist Church in Kingfisher. Burial was in Kingfisher Cemetery.

Douglas Bergthold

Douglas Ward Bergthold, 44, of Siloam Springs, died March 26, 2013, at Siloam Springs Regional Hospital.

He was born Aug. 13, 1968, in Siloam Springs, to Bill Bergthold and Nancy Ward Bergthold. He was a lifelong resident of Siloam Springs. He worked in sales for DaySpring Cards, Siloam Springs, for 17 years, and was currently a sound man for his church, Turning Point Fellowship in Gentry. He married Christy Guinn on June 24, 2006, in Siloam Springs.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dean Bergthold.

Survivors include his wife Christy of the home; one daughter, Meagan Bergthold of Siloam Springs; stepson Dusty Holliman of Siloam Springs; one brother, Dennis Bergthold and wife Sue of Siloam Springs; and one sister, Dawna Kauffeld and husband Jason of Siloam Springs.

Funeral services were March 29 at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, with Dwayne Driggers and Nathan Langley officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery, Siloam Springs. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

David Brinkley

David Wesley Brinkley, 80, of Gravette, died March 30, 2013.

He was born August 19, 1932, in Cheyenne, Okla., the son of William and Iva Townsley Brinkley. David was a Korean War veteran and was honorably discharged at the rank of Corporal. He was retired from the California Carpenters Union. His hobby was working on old cars and tractors. He married Mona Fern Stidham on April 25, 1952, in Clovis, N.M.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Emma Jean Brinkley.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years; two daughters, Lacqueda Roquemore and husband John of Gravette, and Freda Willingham and husband Charles of Springdale; three sons, David Brinkley and wife Rhonda of Bella Vista, Ron Brinkley and wife Katie of Rogers, and William Brinkley of Bella Vista; seven grandchildren, Charles, Shawn, Cody and Johnny Buffer, Joshua Willingham, Ashley and Mckenzi Brinkley; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Duncan Brinkley and wife Phyllis of Estacada, Ore.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 6, at the Georgia Flat Cemetery, west of Gravette, with Rev. Deborah Francis officiating. Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Ark.

Onnobell ‘Ann’ Browning

Onnobell “Ann” Browning, 89, of Decatur, died March 29, 2013, in Barnsdall, Okla.

She was born Jan. 22, 1924, in Trousdale, Kan., to Bert and Golda Mae Cook. She married Dale Browning on Jan. 11, 1965, in Decatur. She was of the Methodist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale Browning; sister Maxine Shaw; and one son, Larry Suiter.

Survivors include one son, Robert Suiter and wife Delora of Gillette, Wyo.; one daughter, Donna Shrader and husband Richard of Wichita, Kan.; two stepdaughters, Margie Axsom and husband Robert of Barnsdall, Okla., and Mary Shoemaker and husband Gary of Broken Arrow, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 3, at the Decatur United Methodist Church in Decatur, with Russ Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Falling Springs Cemetery, near Decatur. Arrangements are by Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.

Abner Gilmore

Abner Rose Gilmore, 97, of Siloam Springs, died March 30, 2013, at VA Medical Center in Fayetteville.

He was born Aug. 12, 1915, in Gas City, Kan., to Leslie A. Gilmore and Lilly Viola Rose Gilmore. He lived in various communities, including Gravette (since 1979); Kalamazoo, Mich., (1959 to 1978); Chicago, Ill., (1946 to 1959); Rawlins, Wyo., (1939 to 1942); and Iola, Kan., from (1935 to 1939). He was an Army/Air Corps Veteran of World War II. He received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and was a design engineer for Precision Tools. He married E. Viola Rose in Louisville, Ky., on Feb. 15, 1947. He was a member of the Weddington Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife; one son, Douglas Gilmore; and one daughter, Darlene Quick.

Survivors include five grandchildren; 12 greatgrandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., April 4, at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, with Wayne Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Fayetteville. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 3. Arrangements are by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Belinda Holley

Belinda Elaine Holley, 49, of Colcord, Okla., died March 28, 2013, at Siloam Springs Regional Hospital.

She was born Jan. 7, 1964, in Panama City, Fla., to William Holley and Elaine Hoffman Holley. She was a member of Decatur Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Megan Santos of Bentonville; one son, Bryan Farrell of Colcord; two grandchildren; her parents of Colcord; one brother, Carl Holley of Siloam Springs; two sisters, Angela Van Schaik of St. Louis, Mo., and Marilyn Holley of Las Vegas, Nev.

Memorial services were April 2 at Decatur Seventhday Adventist Church, Decatur, with Vic Van Schaik officiating. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Barbara McGhee

Barbara Ann McGhee, 60, of Owasso, Okla., died April 1, 2013, at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Okla.

She was born April 15, 1952, in Noel, Mo., to James B. McGhee and Shirley Hoke McGhee. She grew up in Maysville and in Albuquerque, N. M. She graduated from Gravette High School and attended John Brown University and the University of Arkansas, obtaining her bachelor’s degree in 1974. Her lifelong career was in health care, working as a dietitian, educator, and nursing home administrator.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, James P. and Eunice McGhee and Fred and Minda Hoke; and by her brother, James Brent McGhee.

Survivors include her parents, Jim and Shirley McGhee of Lowell; two sisters, Sheryl Ward of Owasso, Okla., and Traci Wills and husband Bill of Springdale.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, April 4, at First Baptist Church, Owasso, with Chad Balthrop officiating. Burial will be 3 p.m., Thursday, at Falling Springs Cemetery, near Decatur.
