DECATUR - An abandoned cabin near Shepherd Hills Drive and Blackberry Lane east of Decatur was destroyed in a fire on Saturday night.

The structure was fully involved when firefighters arrived and was a total loss, according to Benton County Fire Marshal Marc Trollinger.

The cabin had been abandoned for some time and there were no utilities connected to it, Trollinger said. Neighbors noticed the fire and reported it, he said.

Decatur Fire Chief David Flynt said firefighters from Decatur, Highfill and Gentry responded to the fire.

On Monday, Trollinger said the cause of the fire had not been determined and was still under investigation.
