DECATUR - The Iva Jane Peek Library in Decatur received a $1,050 matching grant from the Libre Foundation in Eugene, Ore., to purchase 66 new books.

Most of the books are for young readers, from picture books for prekindergarten students to chapter books for older children, according to librarian Karen Jones. The new books are all hardbacks and include a mix of fiction and nonfiction titles, she said.

The Libre Foundation helps smaller community libraries purchase new books, Jones said. The foundation matched $2 for the library’s $1. The library had to pay $350 out of their book fund and the Libre Foundation matched their payment for a total of $1,050 for books, she said.

“We were just really thrilled to get the books,” Jones said.
