Frances Duncan

Frances Marie Duncan, 91, of Colcord, Okla., died April 2, 2013, at Siloam Springs Nursing and Rehab, Siloam Springs.

She was born Sept. 18, 1921, in Siloam Springs, to Edgar Hickman and Viola Myrick Hickman. She was a lifetime resident of Colcord and was a homemaker. She married Clyde Duncan on July 29, 1939. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, West Siloam Springs, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Duncan; and three brothers, Finas Hickman, Edgar Hickma and Harold Hickman.

Survivors include five sons, Kenneth Duncan and wife Carolyn of Siloam Springs, Eddie Duncan of West Siloam Springs, Larry Duncan and wife Pat of Colcord, Danny Duncan and wife Nancy of West Siloam Springs, and Jackie Duncan and wife Bush of Oaks, Okla.; two daughters, Clydean Burehl and husband Daniel of Norman, Okla., and Wanda Wyre and husband John of Oologah, Okla.; 23 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothy Fain, of Waggoner, Okla.

Funeral services were April 6 at Colcord Church of Christ, with Larry Ellis and Scott Price officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery, Siloam Springs. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Ace Moreland

Ace Lee Moreland, III, 67, of Miami, Okla., formerly of Southwest City, Mo., died April 2, 2013, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Mo., after a recent decline in health.

He was born Sept. 10, 1945, in Picher, Okla., to Ace Lee Moreland II and Lillian (Tanner) Moreland. His formative years were spent in Tucson, Ariz. He was a 1963 graduate of Jay High School in Jay, Okla. He married Sherri D. Sharp on June 25, 1963, in Sedalia, Mo. He lived in Maysville until moving to Southwest City, Mo., in 1972. For 30 years, he owned and operated the Corner Rock Tobacco and Service Station in Southwest City, Mo. He retired in 2003, and he and Sherri moved to Miami, Okla. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Southwest City, Mo., a member of the Anderson Masonic Lodge, the Eastern Star, Scottish Rite, York Rite and was a Shriner. He enjoyed photography, cars, golfing and was an avid gun collector.

He was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his wife Sherri, of the home; two sons, Ace L. Moreland, IV, and wife Amie of Bella Vista, and Christopher J. Moreland of Anderson, Mo.; a daughter, Cheri La-Nay Gould and husband Bob of Bella Vista; five grandchildren; and his mother, of Miami, Okla.

Funeral services were April 5 in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes, with Bill Mayo officiating. Burial was in the Seneca Cemetery in Seneca, Mo. Arrangements were by Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo.

Tammy Spencer

Tammy Carlene Spencer, 53 of Gentry, died April 6, 2013, at the Northwest Medical Center in Springdale.

She was born Aug. 20, 1959, in Hominy, Okla. to Orvan Spencer and Fern Tilley. She was raised and educated in Oklahoma and graduated from Missouri Southern State University of Joplin, Mo. She was the food service director for the Gravette Arkansas Schools and a substitute teacher. She enjoyed reading and cooking.

She is survived by her companion, De Huynh of Sulphur Springs; a brother, James Spencer and wife Crizabeth of the Philippines; and two sisters, Cathy Gaines and husband Stanford of Hominy, Debbie Slead husband Steven of Hominy.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. April 12 at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Gravette. Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory, Bella Vista.

Opal Whisenant

Opal Addle Whisenant, 93, of Gentry, died April 4, 2013, at Siloam Springs Nursing and Rehab, Siloam Springs.

She was born June 11, 1919, in Henryetta, Okla. to Robert Lee Williams and Mary Lou Brock Williams. She lived in Roswell, N.M., and Amarillo, Texas, prior to moving to Arkansas in 1994. She married J.C. Whisenant in Terry County, Texas, on Oct. 1, 1936. She worked as a quality inspector for Northrup during World War II and also worked as a certified nursing assistant. She and her husband were owner/operators of a locker plant in Socorro, N.M. She was a member of Business Professional Women and Beta Sigma Phi. She was also a member of the Christian Church.

Survivors include two sons, James E. Whisenant and wife Barbara of Maysville, and Douglas L. Whisenant and wife Nancy of Anna, Texas; one daughter, Mary Frances Hancock and husband Reuben of Amarillo, Texas; nine grandchildren; 18 greatgrandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were April 8 at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, with Larry Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Tucumcari, N.M., at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 10. Arrangements are by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Fred Zachary

Fred Zachary, 65, of Gravette, died March 26, 2013, at a Little Rock hospital.

He was born March 21, 1948, in Texarkana, Texas, to Maxell and Autrey Zachary. He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Gravette.

He is survived by three sons, Matthew and Patrick Wallain of Canada and Kyle Zachary of Gravette; his mother, one sister and one brother, all of Texas.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 13, at the First Baptist Church in Gravette under direction of J.D. Arnold.
