Springtime Pickin' Time set to be held in Gentry, Decatur

GENTRY - If you're thinking of spring cleaning and maybe lightening your load a bit, or if you have art, antiques or other collectible items you'd like to sell, the perfect opportunity is coming up in just a few short weeks.

Springtime Pickin' Time is set for May 2 through 5 in Gentry and Decatur, and possibly other places too along Arkansas Highway 59.

And what's Springtime Pickin' Time? It's a multi-community garage- and yard-sale event, with opportunities to buy and sell arts, crafts, antiques and other collectible items as well.

To make it easier for area residents to participate, Gentry has waived its permit requirements for the event - meaning there's no need to go to city hall for a permit or pay the usual $5 fee. Those having sales will still be responsible for the proper posting and removal of signs.

And for those who don't have a good place to set up and sell their items, space will be made available along Arkansas Highway 59 by contacting Gentry Chamber of Commerce director Bev Saunders at 736-2358.

With the success of Pickin' Time on 59 last fall, the Chamber of Commerce is hoping for even more participation this spring.

"This was a very successful event for the city in the fall, and I hope it will be this spring also," Saunders said.

For more information on the event or to arrange space to set up table or a booth and sell items, call or stop by the Gentry Chamber of Commerce office.
