Gravette police arrest six

— Gravette Police Department made a number of arrests over the weekend, according to releases from Andrew Bower, Gravette’s police chief.

On Friday, offi cer Blake Webb was contacted by employees at Teasley Drug who “became suspicious of a prescription that had been called in for pickup.” According to the release, the doctor who purportedly had written the prescription was contacted and said he had never seen the patient and that the document was not valid.

On Saturday, offi cers Edgmon and Crane arrested Brandi Beth Ward, 34, of Rogers, accordingto the release. The pharmacy’s records allegedly showed “prescriptions had been fi lled under the same name and using the same doctor’s identifi cation.”

Video of these drug pickups is being reviewed for possible further charges.

Ward was charged with criminal attempt and acquiring a controlled substance by fraud, both Class B felonies, and unlawful use of a communications device during commission of a felony. She is being held in Benton County jail on a $20,000 bond. She is also being held for a probation violation by her parole officer. A continuing investigation “may involve possible state and federal charges,” the release stated.

On Saturday morning, a callinvolving a domestic disturbance between a father and son, on Arkansas Highway 279 North, resulted in the arrest of both parties.

In an investigation by offi cer Webb, Kevin Carothers alleged that his father, Anthony Carothers, had hit him in the head several times with a baseball bat and had attempted to run over him with a vehicle. Kevin Carothers was intoxicated, and emergency personnel attempting to treat him were met with hostility, according to the release.

Kevin Carothers was charged with obstruction of governmental operation and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors.

Anthony Carothers was charged with second degree battery on a family member and aggravated assault on a family member, both Class D felonies. Both parties were transported to Benton County Jail.

On Saturday evening, a probation visit by members of the Gravette Police Department, the Benton County Sheriff’s Office and Arkansas Department of Corrections probation and parole officers resulted in the arrest of three persons at 902 4th Ave. S.W. in Gravette.

After talking with Alfred Harrison, police determined two additional people were in theresidence. Some drug paraphernalia and other items, including a smoking pipe and a bag of suspected marijuana were discovered, according to the press release. Offi cer Webb also located two rifles in a closed bedroom.

According to the release, the following charges were fi led: Alfred Harrison - felony possession of a fi rearm, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructing government operations, both misdemeanors; Timothy Harrison - possession of a controlledsubstance and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors; and Brian Barber - possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.

Alfred Harrison was still being held in Benton County Jail on Monday, with bond set at $25,000.
