I am a busy man today, trying to finish up the wrapping and ribbon tying on the many wonderful gifts I have purchased for my family. I figure on giving one each to the offspring, two to my close relative and some to the Grands! I don t rightly know how many some are; it just depends on my shopping skill each year and how much good stuff they have at the feed store and the hardware store.

It's amazing what people say and sing at Christmas!

The Christmas season is somewhat of an amazing time of year because almost everywhere on radio, television, in shopping malls and stores, at school concerts are the sounds of Christmas hymns and carols. People who otherwise would not hear, play or sing such statements of profound truth are hearing them continually and sometimes even singing along.

Chambers Bank to merge DSB

Officials of Chambers Bancshares, Inc., and Chambers Bank, headquartered in Danville, announced Dec. 5 that Chambers has filed applications with the Arkansas State Bank Department and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation to merge Decatur State Bank into Chambers Bank. The merger is anticipated to be completed in the second quarter of 2014, pending all required regulatory approvals.

We have been hooked up every hour of daylight fixing and repairing all the stuff that waited for cold weather to fall apart. James Leonard Garside James Leonard Garside, Jr., age 62, of Gentry, Ark., died Sunday, November 24, 2013, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. Leonard was born on January 3, 1951, in Platteville, Wis., the son of James Leonard, Sr., and Klella Moriene (Gabbart) Garside. He graduated from Platteville High School and received his bachelor’s degree in industrial arts education from the University of Wisconsin – Platteville, where his father was the Dean of Education and Dean of Graduates.
