James Leonard Garside

James Leonard Garside, Jr., age 62, of Gentry, Ark., died Sunday, November 24, 2013, at Circle of LifeHospice in Springdale. Leonard was born on January 3, 1951, in Platteville, Wis., the son of JamesLeonard, Sr., and Klella Moriene (Gabbart) Garside. He graduated from Platteville High School and received his bachelor’s degree in industrial arts education from the University of Wisconsin - Platteville, where his father was the Dean of Education and Dean of Graduates.

Leonard attended the University of Arkansas, where he received his master’s degree in education in 1990. Leonard taught for six years in cooperative programs among schools where he taught machine shop and building trades in Paris and Charleston, Ark. He then taught for 26 years at Gravette High School, teaching building trades, workplace readiness skills, mechanical and computer-aided drafting. Leonard retired from teaching in June of 2010 with 31 years of teaching experience.

Leonard was known by his family and friends as “Lenny.” He loved to fi sh for walleye on Beaver Lake and used to sing in the choir and men’s church quartet. He loved the Lord Jesus and knew Him as his personal Lord and Savior. He attended First Baptist Church in Gentry for many years and just recently becamea member of Keypoint Church in Bentonville. Lenny was an avid outdoorsman who not only loved to fish and hunt but, more importantly, loved spending time with his family camping, boating, and traveling during summer breaks.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn, of almost 40 years; two daughters: Lindsey Beth (Anthony) Amason of Tahlequah, Okla., and Lori Jean (Bryan) Rooney, of Conway, Ark.; one sister, Virginia (Charles) Davis of Oshkosh, Wis.; four nieces, Kristi Baker, Kari Meszaros, Keali Winchell, and Rachel Jenks, and one nephew Corey Garside, including many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, J. Leonard, Sr., and Klella M. Garside and brother, Robert Earl Garside. The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and caregivers who have helped Leonard over the last year at Highlands Oncology Group and Circle of Life Hospice.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., with visitation starting at 9:30 a.m., on Thursday, December 5, 2013, at Keypoint Church North, 1710 SW Commerce Drive, Suite 20, in Bentonville, Ark., with Pastors Casey Henagan, Chuck Davis and Terry Lansdale offi ciating. Margie Florer

Margie Randolph Florer, 90, died Nov. 28, 2013, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Boulder, Colo.

She was born, the youngest of fi ve daughters, on Aug. 2, 1923, in Sallisaw, Okla., to TL Randolph and Maude (Monroe) Randolph. Her family moved to Decatur, where she was captain of the girls basketball team, class salutatorian, and Apple Blossom Queen her senior year. After graduation, she traveled to New Orleans, La., to marry her high school sweetheart, John Florer, who was stationed in the Coast Guard before shipping out to serve in WWII in the Pacific. They were married May 17, 1943. She worked at McDonnell Douglas airplane plant in the blueprint department during the war. After the war, she and John Florer moved to Loveland, Colo., where he worked on the Big Thompson Project and she taught in the one-room Trilby School between Loveland and Ft. Collins. Her husband’s career in construction management took them to Chillicothe, Ohio; Grand Junction, Colo.; Niagara Falls, N.Y.; Cape Cod, Mass.; Woodbury, N.J.; Fort Collins, Colo.; and Las Vegas, Nev. She completed her education degree at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas and also earned a masters degree from the University of Phoenix. She was an elementary school teacher. She and John moved to Longmont in 2008. John preceded her in death in 2012, just short of their 70th wedding anniversary.

She is survived by her daughters, Deana Florer Sonnesyn and husband David of Longmont, Colo., and Mary Ann Schelling and husband Gregory of Silt, Colo.; fi ve grandsons; and one great-grandson.

A memorial service will be held at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 6, followed by interment at Mountain View Cemetery.

Gene Robinson

Gene Douglas “Doug” Robinson, 60, of Gravette, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at the Ozarks Community Hospital in Gravette.

He was born Sept. 12, 1953, in Killeen, Texas, to Herbert E. and Jessie Mae (Crisp) Robinson. He was a United States Army veteran. He spent many years working as a car salesman in the Northwest Arkansas area. He loved to spend time with family fi shing, hunting and camping.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert E. Robinson.

He is survived by his mother, Jessie Mae Robinson of Rogers; his wife, Cindy Robinson of Gravette; six children, Jessica Cates and husband Jon of Ft. Campbell, Ky., Joshua Robinson of Rogers, Jake Robinson of Rocky Comfort, Mo., Nikki Taylor and husband Shane of Gravette, James Garland of Fayetteville and Ryan Garland of Gravette; two brothers, Lonnie Robinson of Rogers, and Stanton Hendrickson and wife Melanie of Bentonville; his stepmother, Donna Robinson of Garfi eld; and one grandson.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 4, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery south of Gravette. Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory, in Bella Vista.

Willard Londagin

Zach Willard Londagin, 74, of Bentonville, died Nov. 30, 2013, at his home.

He was born Sept. 24, 1939, to Luther Z. and Lola Bee (Hunter) Londagin in Cherokee City. He was married for 55 years to Sonia (Barnwell) Londagin. He attended school in Gravette and was a member of the GHS class of 1957. He enjoyed being in the outdoors, gardening and reading.

He was preceded in deathby his parents and a brother, Wendell Londagin.

He is survived by his wife, Sonia, of Bentonville; daughter, Terri Londagin of Rogers; and sister, Glenda Gano of Glendora, Calif.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, Dec. 5, at 11 a.m., at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Hiwasse. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville. Joyce Peterson

Joyce A. Peterson, 68, of Hiwasse, died Dec. 2, 2013, at Circle of Life Hospice House in Bentonville.

She was born Dec. 11, 1944,in Bentonville, to Ruby and Herbert Leach. She enjoyed traveling, shopping and eating out.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Teresa Payne.

She is survived by her husband, Galen Peterson of the home, whom she married Sept. 3, 1991; two sons, John Payne of Decatur, and Kenneth Payne of Texas; two brothers, Jimmy Leach and Herbert Leach; one sister, Pat Walker; and four grandchildren.

Inurnment will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Hiwasse. Arrangements are by Epting Funeral Home.
