GRAVETTE — Wyatt Gibbons, senior, who played second base and shortstop with the Gravette Lions baseball team, signed a letter of intent on Dec. 2 to play for the Lyon College Scots at Batesville.

Gibbons, 17, son of Tim and Stephanie Gibbons, started 15 games during his senior season, in which his on-ball percentage was .362. He had four stolen bases and his fielding percentage was an enviable 91 percent. His summer Legion baseball stats included a .267 average with 84 at bats. This included four doubles, 12 runs and a .458 percent on base stat which included 18 walks and four hits-by-pitcher.

Coach Randall Hunt said, "Wyatt is an outstanding leader both on and off the field. His ability to get on base for the top of our lineup by wearing pitches and playing small ball is something we will miss having next year. Lyon College has given Wyatt a great opportunity to succeed, not only on the field as a Scotsman, but also academically in the career of business. I'm excited for both Wyatt and his family for the experiences they will share over the next four years at Lyon. The Gravette baseball 'family' wishes Wyatt the best of luck at the next level."
