GRAVETTE — A young man, who Gravette High football coach Bill Harrelson said, "has been an integral part of the Gravette Lions football program for the past six years," next fall will be a "Lyon" for the Lyon College Scots football team.

Cody Robinson, 17, the son of Stephen and Jennifer Robinson of Gravette, last Tuesday signed a letter of intent to play for Lyon College in Batesville, Ark. A crowd of family, friends and students, many of them Gravette football players, filled the room as the signing took place in the Lion field house.

Harrelson said, "Cody earned 1-4A Conference honors this year. He had 519 yards total offense with three touchdowns. For his career he amassed more than 2,000 total yards and 14 TDs. On defense this year he had 59 tackles, two fumble recoveries and two sacks.

Besides Harrelson's above quote, he said, "Cody has always been a leader on and off the field and has been a starter for the senior high team the past three years. We will miss his performance on the field but we will miss his leadership the most."

Cody is shown with his parents, Stephen and Jennifer Robinson. Gravette football coach Harrelson, left, and Lyon Scots' coach Kyle Phelps are in the background.
