Suspicious activity, fictitious tag leads to arrests

Three men arrested in Gentry, two on drug charges

— Three men were arrested Feb. 12 after Gentry police noticed nervous activity and a vehicle license plate which did not match the car which the men occupied.

According to police reports and an affidavit of probable cause, a Gentry police officer noticed that the men acted nervous and were watching him closely as he drove through the parking lot of the Phillips 66 Station at the intersection of Arkansas Highways 12 and 59.

When the police officer obtained vehicle registration information from the license plate of the car, a four-door Lincoln, it was the registration tag of a Ford Escape, the affidavit states.

The officer stopped the car as soon as it was driven east on Highway 12.

According to the affidavit, none of the occupants had a valid driver's license, and the proof of insurance was expired.

The driver, Larry Griggs, 42, had a suspended license, the affidavit states. He was arrested and charged for driving with a suspended license and displaying fictitious registration plates.

Kyle Holzkamper, 24, a frontseat passenger in the car, had arrest warrants out of Gravette and Centerton and was also placed under arrest, the affidavit states.

In an inventory of the vehicle, a white, powdery substance police believed to be methamphetamine and a hypodermic needle were found in the driver's area of the car. A pipe and what police believed to be marijuana was found in the back seat, where the third man, Luke Boyer, 59, had been seated.

According to the affidavit, Boyer is alleged to have admitted ownership of the pipe and marijuana.

Boyer was also arrested. All three were transported to the Benton County Jail.

Boyer was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to the affidavit. In addition to the driving charges, Griggs was also charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, the affidavit states.
