WESTSIDE — For the second straight year, the 5th grade A Boys Basketball team has won the NWA County Basketball League Championship.

Last year the boys won the 4th grade division and this year the 5th grade division. Similar to last year, the team of six boys had an injury and had to play with five for the first part of the season. Once they were all healthy, the team had to find its identity and each player had to find their individual role to make the team championship caliber.

It all came together and clicked at tournament time - the time of year for the last two seasons the boys have called their “Big Dance” win or go home. And win they did.

In their first two games against Prairie Grove Gold and Elkins, they won in going-away fashion by playing fast and aggressive. In the championship game, they saved the best for last and played the best team game of the year by beating the number one seed and undefeated Shiloh Christian Saints in a dominating performance, with a final score of 31-19.
