GUE Musical Date Changed

The Gravette Upper Elementary spring musical, originally scheduled for Thursday, March 14, has been changed to Tuesday, April 30, at 7 p.m., at the Gravette Schools’ Performing Arts Center.

Singspiration Service

The Gentry Church of God (Holiness) will be holding a special “Singspiration” service on Sunday, March 3, at 11 a.m. This will be a special time of musical worship and praise. All are invited to bring a Christian song, reading or poem to share. The church is located at 104 North Collins, just north of the Gentry police station. Women’s Temperance

There will be a meeting of the Northwest Arkansas Woman’s Christian Temperance Union on Friday, March 1, at 7 p.m. This is a meeting of the local chapter of the WCTU, which is a worldwide organization that was organized by women who were concerned about the destructive power of alcohol and the problems it was causing their families and society. The purpose of the meeting is to educate about the harm that alcohol causes and to work against government policy that encourages alcohol and drug use. The meeting will be held in the home of one of the members, at 10896 Northfork Drive, just off Mount Olive Drive between Decatur and Gravette. SNAP Program

The Department of Human Services will be at the Gentry Senior Center at 11 a.m., March 4, to enroll people in the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program. SNAP is a program to help end hunger and improve nutrition and health. To qualify, monthly net income must be less than $931 for one person or $1,261 for two, or one must qualify for assistance with food stamps. The center is hoping to reach people that are 60 or more years of age, or someone living with a disability, that meets the income guidelines.

Together Green

Join in Together Green at Eagle Watch Nature Trail on SWEPCO Lake, west of Gentry, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 2. Volunteers are invited to join Michelle Viney, of Audubon Arkansas, and Terry Stanfill, Eagle Watch Nature Trail manager, for a morning of wildlife habitat improvements. Activities will include removal of woody plants from the prairie restoration area, butterfly garden maintenance, removal of saplings from fence rows, removal of a section of barbed-wire fence, and possible transplanting of wildflowers from a remnant prairie in Gentry to Eagle Watch. Garden tools, chain saws and loppers are needed if you have them. Leather gloves are also recommended. Together Green is a wildlife habitat improvement program sponsored by Audubon. Reading Program Resumes

The reading program at Gravette Public Library will resume Tuesday, March 5, and continue each Tuesday from 10:30 to 11 a.m. This story time is for pre-kindergarten children.

New Gentry Book Club

Gentry Library has announced the forming of Turn the Page Book Club for those looking to immerse themselves into a good book, spend time with like minds and meet old friends and new. The club will meet once a month, with the first meeting at 6 p.m., March 5, at the Gentry Library Community Room. The first book to be discussed is called “State of Wonder” by Ann Patchett. Jolly Good Times Club

The monthly meeting of the Jolly Good Times Club will be held Wednesday, Feb. 27, at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center. Members will gather at 10:15 in the sitting room. Potluck lunch will feature a meat dish by Mary, veggies by Emily, salad by Susan and dessert by Betty. Betty Howard will give the program. Visitors and new members are always welcome.

Annual Awards Banquet

Decatur Library

Story Time

The Iva Jane Peek Library will hold story time from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., the first Wednesday of the month. All ages are welcome. The story time will focus on preschool-age children. For more information, call 752-READ (7323).

Community Food Bank

Decatur Methodist Church offers a community food bank from 5 to 7 p.m. on the first and third Thursdays of each month, located at 230 Third Street. The food pantry requires identification and proof that mail is received at an address in the 72722 zip code, such as a utility bill, rent deposit or bank statement. The USDA Commodity Program is also available. It is income based, therefore proof of income is required. Those receiving food stamps are automatically qualified with an acceptance letter.

Church Singing

Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist in Sulphur Springs holds a singing service every fourth Saturday of the month, starting at 6:30 p.m. A potluck dinner follows. For more information, call Jheri Roberts, the pastor, at 752-7082.

Saint Patrick’s Day Service

Tired Iron of the Ozarks

Regular meetings of the Tired Iron of the Ozarks are held at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at the Tired Iron clubhouse located at the club’s show grounds on Taylor Orchard Road southwest of Gentry. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, March 19.

Cemetery Preservation

The Benton County Cemetery Preservation Group invites all members and interested persons to attend its annual meeting at 9 a.m. on March 9, at 306 NW 2nd St., Bentonville. The meeting will include the nomination and election of officers and board members and a discussion on the preservation of cemeteries.

Gravette American Legion

Gravette American Legion Post 20 meets the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend. The next meeting is March 19.

Gravette Kiwanis

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m., the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.
