Gentry council adopts budget, gives pay raises

— In a meeting which lasted less than 15 minutes on Monday, Gentry’s city council approved a 2013 salary schedule and budget resolution and re-appointed members to the city’s planning and zoning commission and parks commission.

Council members approved a salary schedule for the year which gives a 1.5 percent acrossthe-board pay raise to all city employees. Also adopted was a budget for 2013 with actual carry-over balances included.

The General Fund Budget shows an anticipated $1,357,698 in incoming revenue, with total budgeted expenditures set at $1,313,868.

For the County Tax Fund, the budget shows a beginning balance of $152,876 and anticipates another $450,000 in revenue from county sales tax and $300 from interest. With budgeted expenditures of $483,000, at least $120,176 is anticipated for carryover to 2014.

The Street and Alley budget anticipates $1,024,664 in incoming revenue, with budgeted expenditures of $925,120.

The Water and Sewer budget anticipates total income revenue of $3,766,612 (actual income is $2,157,229, with the rest in savings and reserves) with budgeted expenditures — including money set aside in capital improvement funds of $3,426,900. Actual expenses were budgeted at $2,281,900.

Danny Feemster and Paul Church were re-appointed to the planning and zoning commission. Meredith Renfro was reappointed to the parks commission.
