Gravette saves win at Ozark

Lady Lions fall in close finish against Lady Hillbillies

— The Lions traveled to Ozark on Friday and picked up an overtime win against the hosting Hillbillies.

Playing strong in the first half, Gravette scored 16 in each quarter and was up 32-25 at the break.

But Ozark wasn’t done yet, coming back to outscore the Lions 12-6 in the third and 10-9 in the fourth and tie up the game at 47 apiece.

The Lions saved their game and pulled out a victory in overtime, finishing up the game at 57-53.

Terence Pierce led the Lions in scoring, with 21 points for the night. Matt VanOtterloo added 12, Otto Troutner, 11, and Carson Pollreis, nine.

Troutner led the team in rebounds with nine.

GIRLS OZARK 65 GRAVETTE 62

Gravette’s Lady Lions fell to Ozark, 65-62, last week in a close contest between two teams.

Ozark grabbed the lead in the first quarter and added to it in the second, being up by 10, 34-24, at the half.

The Lady Lions played hard in the second half,closing the gap to five at the end of the third quarter of play.

In the final quarter and down 48-43, the Gravette girls again outplayed their opponents, picking up another 19 points. But the girls weren’t able to close the gap and finished two baskets short of a victory.

Destaney Wishon led the Lady Lions in scoring with 21. Whitney Dewitt added 14 and Monica White, 13.
