Gravette club cuts fees

— Boys & Girls Club of Western Benton County - Gravette Unit is “rolling back” prices for both annual membership fees and spring afterschool fees.

The Club currently charges $20 per calendar year per child along with a $20 spring after-school fee. Due to a one-time generous gift from the Walmart U.S. Finance Department and the Walmart Foundation, the club will reduce the 2013 annual membership fee from $20 to $10 per child and eliminate the $20 spring after-school fee.

Jay Oliphant of Walmart U.S. Finance, a resident of Gravette, helped facilitate the grant. He said, “Walmart and the Foundation enthusiastically support the Gravette club’s efforts to meet the needs of underserved children with the rollback program and the purchase of computers to help with ACT preparationand other educational offerings.”

“We are dedicated to ensuring that all of our community’s children and teens - especially those who need us most - have access to our club’s quality programs and services to enhance their lives and positively shape their futures,” said Chris Shimer, chief professional officer.

“The availability of affordable after-school programs continues to be an important community objective in order to meet the needs of working parents and provide endless opportunities to our local youth,” said Adam Donell, Gravette unit director. “Participating in an after-school program not only keeps kids safe, it engages them in a positive learning environment that helps them reach their full potential in life.”
