Man Arrested for Beating, Choking Wife

— Jerry Harris, 29, of Decatur, was arrested on Monday for a violent attack against his wife on Jan. 11.

During the attack, Harris allegedly slapped and punched his wife in the face, threatened to kill her and choked her until she lost consciousness, the report states. He also knocked out teeth, according to the report.

When his wife tried to escape their apartment, he allegedly “body slammed” her on the front porch and wouldn’t let her leave.

According to the report, she fled the apartment to get help after Harris fell asleep.

She was taken to the Gravette hospital with severe injuries and bruising, the report states.

On Monday, Harris was being held in the Benton County Jail without bond and charged with felony domestic battery in the second degree.

Police reports also indicate that Harris was twice before convicted of domestic battery and assault, once in Gentry and once in Decatur.
