Dolores Adams

Dolores Adams, 70, of Bentonville and former longtime resident of Gentry, died Jan. 26, 2013, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale.

She was born Feb. 24, 1942, in Kansas City, Mo., to Fred G. Adams and Erma Hester Dodd. She graduated from the Ozark Adventist Academy in Gentry in 1960. She attended Union College in Lincoln, Neb., and the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. She was a member of the National Association of Women in Construction and Gentry Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Survivors include one brother, Dale Adams and wife Patricia of Gentry; one sister, Diana Hartfield and husband Anthony of Decatur.

Funeral services were Jan. 27 at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, with Tim McMillan officiating. Burial followed in Gentry Cemetery. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Jeffery ‘Jeff’ Brewer, Sr.

Jeffery Clyde "Jeff" Brewer, 51, of Bella Vista, died Jan. 25, 2013, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale from a rare form of cancer.

He was born Oct. 9, 1961, in Paola, Kan., to Clyde Fred and Ruby Marie Corey Brewer. He was owner and operator of Brewer’s Corral Supply in Hiwasse and worked with his oldest son Jeff, Jr. He loved welding, woodworking and his tractor. He and Linda Thompson were married Oct. 14, 1980.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents Thuda and Carrie (Wright) Brewer and Paul and Gladys (Whitaker) Corey; daughter-in-law Lacey LaShell (House) Brewer; and one granddaughter, Aspen Diane Michelle House.

Survivors include his wife Linda; two sons, Jeffery Brewer, Jr., of Bella Vista, and Brian Brewer and wife Katie of Bella Vista; daughter Holly Arnett and husband Marcus of Bella Vista; six grandchildren; ten brothers, Carl Brewer and wife Paula of Paola, Kan., Max and Roseanne Brewer of Paola, Rex Brewer and wife Penny of May, Okla., Gary Brewer and wife Melba of Arkansas City, Kan., David Brewer and wife Marilyn of Paola, Lonny Brewer and wife Debbie of Paola, Tommy Brewer and wife Sally of Osawatomie, Kan., Daniel Brewer and wife Pat of Osawatomie, Tony Brewer and wife Teresa of Paola, and Freddie Brewer and wife Becky of Paola; three sisters, Carol Kirkland and husband Tim of Grayson, Ky., Janet Moser of Paola, and Freda Thompson and husband John of Gravette.

Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 31, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Wasson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 12 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 2, at Miami County Fairgrounds, Paola, Kan., with Gary Brewer officiating. Visitation will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 2, prior to service. Burial will follow in Mannen Cemetery, west of Paola. Local arrangements are by Wasson Funeral Home,Siloam Springs.

Dean Dempsey

Dean Wallace Dempsey, 81, of Gentry, died Jan. 22, 2013, at his home.

He was born Jan. 11, 1932, In Ballwin, Kan., to William Henry Dempsey and Matilla Dempsey. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was an industrial construction worker. He moved to the Gentry area 17 years ago from Henderson, Nev.

Survivors include three sons, Dean Wayne Dempsey, Darrell Dempsey, and David Dempsey, all of Maui, Hawaii; five grandchildren; and fiancée, Mary Reece, of Gentry.

Graveside services were Jan. 26, at Gentry Cemetery, Gentry. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Deloyd Dodd

Deloyd Dodd, 76, of Watts, Okla., died Jan. 26, 2013, at Washington Regional Hospital, Fayetteville.

He was born Aug. 26, 1936 in Ducor, Calif., to Everett and Della Rowlett Dodd. He was employed for Western Union for 15 years, La-Z-Boy for 18 years and Dayspring for 10 years. In addition, he was a self-employed organ tuner. He and June Anderson were married Nov. 8, 1957, in San Diego, Calif. He was a Navy veteran and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served as branch president and bishop four times.

Survivors include his wife June of the home; five sons, Steven Dodd of Stillwater, Okla., Jeffrey Dodd of Gravette, Douglas Dodd and wife Margaret of Stillwater, and Bradley Dodd of Arcadia, Okla.; two daughters, Rebecca Hardesty and husband Charles of Cleveland, Okla., and Jennifer Westrick and husband Craig of Sulphur Springs, Okla.; brother Robert Dodd and wife Kay of Bartlesville, Okla.; sister Eveline Langley of Watts, Okla.; and 14 grandchildren.

Funeral services were Jan. 29 at the Siloam Springs Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints with Jeff Patterson officiating. Burial followed in Peaceful Grove Cemetery, near Watts, Okla. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Jack Johnson

Jack Johnson, 63, formerly of Gravette, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at the Grove Hospital in Grove, Okla.

He was born Feb. 3, 1949, in Noel, Mo. He attended Noel Public Schools and graduated from Neosho High School. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He enjoyed his kids, grandkids, family, swimming, throwing horseshoes, hauling hay, sports and caring for his horses.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Becky Buzzard Johnson; and his parents, Frank and Blanche Rowe Johnson.

He is survived by one daughter, Crystal Johnson; one son, Billy Jack Johnson; three grandchildren; three brothers, Wayne Johnson of Noel, Mo., Joe Johnson of Noel, and Danny Johnson of Southwest City, Mo.; seven sisters, Wanda Long of Columbus, Ohio, Darlene Coyan of Broken Arrow, Okla., Dorothy Spencer of Anderson, Mo., Joy Evans of Goodman, Mo., Janice Moss of Noel, Sandy Burke of Noel, and Debbie Morrison of Republic, Mo.

Funeral services were Jan. 25, at Round Springs Baptist Church in Eucha, Okla., with Junior Loftis and John Summerfield presiding. Burial with military honors was at Round Springs Cemetery in Eucha. Arrangements were by Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove.

Edward Jones

Edward Lee Jones, 54, of Gentry, died Jan. 23, 2013, at Circle of Life Hospice, Springdale.

He was born March 1, 1958, in Siloam Springs, to Jerral Ben Jones and Patricia Douthit Jones. He was a lifelong resident of Gentry and was an oil field laborer.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Jerral B. Jones; and one brother, Eric Lynn Jones.

Survivors include one son, Edward Lee Jones, II, and wife Jessica of Westville, Okla.; one daughter Charla Whitaker and husband Joe of Gentry; six grandchildren; his mother, Patricia Jones of Gentry; and one sister, Beth Schillbach and husband Ron of Gentry.

Memorial services were Jan. 26, at Falling Springs Church, Decatur, with Wil Gardner officiating. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Estelle Marney

Estelle Johnson Marney, 87, of Gravette, died Jan. 21, 2013, in Bella Vista.

She was born Oct. 12, 1925, in Idabel, Okla., to James Johnson and Ruby Strahan Johnson. She married Samuel Allen Marney on May 16, 1948. He preceded her in death. She was employed as a licensed practical nurse for more than 40 years, serving in Hot Springs at St. Joseph’s and Levi Hospitals as well as private service. She was a resident of Hot Springs for much of her life before moving to Gravette in 1994.

Survivors include one son, Allen (Pam) Marney of Gravette; one daughter, Belva Knight of Munster, Ind.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Jackie Hunt of Phoenix, Ariz.

Graveside service was held Jan. 25 at Price Cemetery in Hot Springs with Samuel R. Marney officiating. Arrangements were by Caruth-Hale Funeral Home of Hot Springs.

Lonnie Speed

Lonnie Eugene Speed, 62, of Siloam Springs, died on Jan. 19, 2013, at the Siloam Springs Regional Hospital.

He was born Feb. 13, 1950, in Siloam Springs, to Robert Burly and Cleta Speed. He married Nina Sue Saylor on March 25, 1985, in Miami, Okla. He drove a truck for Walmart for over 20 years. He enjoyed spending time at home and riding on his tractor. He was of the Pentecostal faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Nina Sue Speed, of the home; children, Johnny Bruffet and wife Brenlee of Brownsboro, Texas, Brenda Lee Wilson of Seagoville, Texas, Bo Speed and wife Julie of Prairie Grove; six grandchildren; brother, David Speed of Siloam Springs; sisters, Dorothy Rankin and husband Elvin of Gentry, Wanda Straub of Freemont, Calif., Freda Gibbs and husband Bill of Siloam Springs, and Betty Duncan of Decatur.

Funeral service was at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Chapel in Siloam Springs, on Jan. 23. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery. Arrangements were by Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.

George Urchison, Sr.

George Harvey Urchison, Sr., 94, of Howe, Okla., died Jan. 19, 2013, in Howe.

He was born March 5, 1918, at Kaw City, Okla., to George and Lucy Elizabeth (Richard) Urchison. He was a mechanic.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Wanda Urchison; three brothers and two sisters.

George is survived by his wife, Edith Irene (Sanders) Urchison, of Sulphur Springs; three sons, Kenneth Urchison of Dardanelle, George Urchison, Jr., of Howe, Okla., and Tracy Urchison of Bokoshe, Okla.; three daughters, Fonda Hardy of California, Julia Down and husband David of Tulsa, Okla., and Carol Harris and husband Jim of Gravette; a brother, Walter Urchison of Talihia, Okla.; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Jan. 22 at Springhill Baptist Church in Howe, Okla., with Billy Parker officiating. Burial was in Monroe Cemetery, at Monroe, Okla. Arrangements were by Grace Manor Funeral Home, Poteau, Okla.
