BENTONVILLE - A former Gravette volunteer firefighter was arrested last week in a federal case in connection with child pornography.

Glen Baughman, 23, is being held in the Washington County Detention Center in connection with production of child pornography and possession of child pornography. He was booked into the jail at 3:15 p.m. June 19.

Baughman’s arrest stems from an undercover investigation by Arkansas State Police, according to an affidavit.

Doug Estes, a special agent with the State Police, logged on to a peer-to-peer network and was able to download 2,747 images and video files of child pornography from a computer in Northwest Arkansas, according to the affidavit.

State Police obtained a warrant and learned the computer was at a Decatur address. That led police to Baughman’s home.

Police served a search warrant at the home June 19 and found a computer with images of child pornography after a partial forensic examination, according to the affidavit.

Police also seized a cell phone from Baughman’s bedroom, according to court documents. The phone contained a 5-minute video of a child being touched by a man as the child slept, the affidavit states.

Baughman was interviewed and admitted the phone belonged to him and he used it to record himself sexually touching the 9-year-old girl, according to court documents. He claimed the act occurred within the last couple of months, the affidavit states.

Baughman also admitted to using his computer to view and download images of children engaged in sexually explicit conduct, according to court documents.

Gravette Fire Chief Dave Smith confirmed Baughman was a volunteer firefighter with the department but has been terminated.

“He’s no longer employed with us,” Smith said.
