Springtown VBS

Vacation Bible School will be held at the Springtown Pentecostal Church from 9:30 to 11 a.m. this week for children, ages 4 and older.

Church of Christ, Methodist VBS

The Gravette Church of Christ and Gravette United Methodist Church will be holding a joint VBS for children ages 4 years old through 4th grade from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, July 20. Theme of the VBS is “Egypt, Joseph’s Journey from Prison to Palace.” The event, including Bible lessons, crafts, games and food, will be held at the Church of Christ, 202 Irving Street, in Gravette. First Christian VBS

Vacation Bible School at First Christian Church in Gravette will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 22 to 26 for youngsters age pre-K through fifth grade. A free dinner will be served each night and a free pool party and cookout will be held at 5 p.m., Sunday, July 21. To pre-register or for rides call 787-5307 or access www.fccgravette.com.

Family Fun Day

The Church on the Hill will have a Family Fun Day at Old Town Park from 12 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 13. The event will include free food, inflatables and games for the whole family. Everyone is welcome.

Gravette HBC VBS

“Land of the Lost” is coming to Heritage Baptist Church in Gravette, across from the Boys and Girls Club. Come see if the castaways can get off of the island, July 15-19, from 6 to 8 p.m. Children ages 4 through those entering sixth grade are welcome. A light meal will be provided from 5:15-5:45 p.m.

Quilt Class Field Trip

The monthly quilt class that meets at Gravette Church of Christ will be taking a fi eld trip to the Grove, Okla., quilt show for its July meeting. Quilt class members and interested guests should meet at the church at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 20. From there they will car pool to Grove where they will eat at a Mexican restaurant and then attend the show. There is a $5 admission charge for the show.

Turn the Page Book Club

During the month of August, temperatures rise well above our comfort level, but have no fear. Turn the Page Book Club has just the thing to keep you comfy in the air conditioning. We will be exploring an enchanting world that few know. In “Night Circus,” by Erin Morgenstern, readers will be swept into a different realm where rivalries are started at birth. Heat Softball Benefi t

A benefit to help the Heat Softball 12U state champions go to regional competition in Houma, La., is scheduled for July 12 at the Kansas High School Cafeteria in Kansas, Okla. Food and drinks are available at 5:30 p.m. Bingo games with prizes from area merchants begin at 6 p.m.

Gentry Summer Reading

Gentry’s Dig into Reading program will be held for children of all ages, with meetings every Tuesday and Thursday, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the library. Each child signing up will receive a free librarycard at Gentry Public Library. The card will allow children to attend library programs, check out books, work on the library computers and load e-books. Rocks are the theme of this week’s sessions. In the weeks following, the focus will be on animals and crystals. Each week will include new, fun activities for participating children. Library Book Sale

Gravette Public Library is having a used book sale in which $1 will buy a bag full of good reading. For more information, contact the library at 787-6955.

Storytime Program

The storytime program at Gravette Public Library continues each Tuesday from 10:30 to 11 a.m. This storytime is for pre-kindergarten children.

Class of ‘54 Reunion

The Gravette High School Class of 1954 is planning a reunion for Gravette Day weekend. Class members will get together at Texas Land & Cattle Steakhouse in Rogers at 6 p.m., Friday, Aug. 9. They will ride in the parade on Saturday and have dinner at 6 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Village Inn in Bentonville. For information, call Betty Jackson Harryman at 417-529-1600.

Community Food Bank

Decatur United Methodist Church offers a community food bank from 5 to 7 p.m. on the first and third Thursdays of each month, at 230 Third Street. The food pantry requires identifi cation and proof that mail is received at an address in the 72722 zip code, such as a utility bill, rent deposit or bank statement. The USDA Commodity Program is also available. Proof of income is required. Those receiving food stamps are automatically qualifi ed with an acceptance letter.

Decatur Food Pantry

United Christian Charities has opened a food pantry in downtown Decatur, across from Decatur State Bank, for anyone needing food in the northwest Arkansas area. The hours of operation are Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The point of contact is Tina Holt, 435-5699. Feed My Sheep Hours

The Feed My Sheep food pantry in Gravette is open each Thursday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Maysville Food Pantry

Maysville Missionary Baptist Church opens its food pantry, Our Healing Hearts, every fourth Sunday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for those in need.

Church Singing

Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist in Sulphur Springs holds a singing service every fourth Saturday of the month, starting at 6:30 p.m. A potluck dinner follows. For more information, call Jheri Roberts, the pastor, at 752-7082.

Praise and Worship

Maysville Missionary Baptist Church holds a praise and worship service at 6 p.m. every third Sunday night, with refreshments following.

Tired Iron of the Ozarks

Regular meetings of the Tired Iron of the Ozarks are held at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at the Tired Iron clubhouse located at the club’s show grounds on Taylor Orchard Road southwest of Gentry. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, July 16.

Gravette American Legion

Gravette American Legion Post 20 meets the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend. The next meeting is July 16.

Gravette Kiwanis

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m., the fi rst Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.

Men’s Fellowship

First Baptist Church of Gentry has a monthly men’s fellowship gathering at 8 a.m. on the third Saturday of each month. All men are welcome to come for food and fellowship. Guests are welcome. For more information, contact Madden Waits at 736-5009.

Football Camp

The Gravette High School Football Team and coaches will be holding a football camp for any second through seventh grader interested in learning more about the fundamentals of the game. The camp is free and will be held at the Gravette PeeWee Football Field on Saturday, July 20th, from 9 a.m. to noon.
