Local students honored by NWACC

BENTONVILLE - NWACC Rising Scholars recognizes students who have excelled in concurrent classes at Northwest Arkansas Community College.

Students can take NWACC classes on the NWACC campus, through the Early College Experience, high school-based concurrent enrollment program, or through NTI Secondary Career Center.

To receive the award, graduating seniors must be enrolled in or have completed at least 12 college credit hours while maintaining a 3.00 or higher NWACC grade point average.

NWACC recognized 114 students as NWACC Rising Scholars in May 2013 including the following from Gentry High School: Ashton King, Alex Newsom, Abby Paczowski, Elijah Ramsey, Kendra Speer and Brookelyn Williamson.

NWACC has been offering concurrent enrollment opportunities to area high school students since 1995. From 2000 to 2010, NWACC has awarded 5,820 high school students 27,273 semester credit hours. In the academic year 2011-12, students saved $386,873 in tuition by participating in concurrent classes at NWACC.
