Robert Brandt

Robert Charles Brandt, 91, of Bella Vista, died July 14, 2013, at Jamestown Nursing and Rehabilitation in Rogers.

He was born in Cambridge, Neb., on Feb. 7, 1922, to Charles and Theresa (O’Brien) Brandt. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Germany during WWII. He was also a pioneer of organic gardening. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church.

Survivors include his children, Joan Dempcy and husband Bruce of Sterling, Colo., Mike Brandt and wife Mary of Morristown, Vt., Paul Brandt and wife Dore of Loveland, Colo., Linda Sue Goosen and husband Carl of Little Rock, Dennis Brandt and wife Cherry of Gravette, Mary Ann Brandt-Stoll and husband Chris of Terrell, Texas; a sister, Doris Kuhlman of Colorado; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nina Ruth Brandt; and a brother, Maurice Brandt.

A rosary was recited July 20 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Bella Vista, with Mass of Christian Burial celebrated. Inurnment followed in the St. Bernard Columbarium.

Cremation arrangements are by Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers.

Grant Coonrod, Jr.

Grant Adolph Coonrod, Jr., 54, of Bentonville, died July 18, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers.

He was born June 14, 1959, in San Jose, Calif., to Grant Coonrod, Sr., and Donna Farnsworth Coonrod. He moved from California to Arkansas in 1972 and was a trailer maintenance inspector for Walmart. He married Shirley Case, in Highfill, on Sept. 29, 1979. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Gentry.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley, of the home; two sons, Steve Coonrod and Jeff Coonrod, both of Centerton; granddaughter, Jessie Coonrod; his parents, Grant and Donna Coonrod of Highfill; and one brother, Chris Coonrod and wife Julie of Gentry.

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 21, at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, with Mike Walker offi ciating. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.

Berta Kinder

Berta Gene Kinder, 76, of Centerton, died Monday, July 15, 2013, at her home.

She was born on April 1, 1937, in Sturkie, to Abe Hammond and Alma Walker Hammond.

She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren; camping; spending time in the garden and time with her siblings.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lowell Kinder; and daughter, Debra Kinder.

She is survived by three sons, Ron Kinder and wife Shelia of Olathe, Kan., Steve Kinder and wife Robin of Hiwasse, Richard Kinder and wife Tina of Bella Vista; one daughter, Linda Rohrbach and husband Kenny of Centerton; one brother, Johnny Hammond of Salem; two sisters, Jula Scott and husband Joe of West Plains, Mo., Lora Aldridge and husband Charles of Sturkie; nine grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held July 20 at the Bella Vista Church of Christ. Arrangements were by the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory, Bella Vista.

David Murray

David Vernon Murray, 59, of Gravette, died July 14, 2013, at Ozarks Community Hospital in Gravette.

He was born on Jan. 18, 1954, at Corona, Calif., to Arnold Benjamin Murray and Anna Johanna Sweeter Murray. He moved with his family to the Gravette area when he was a young boy. He graduated from Gravette High School in 1972. David was a 1974-75 graduate of Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Okla. He was a member of Shepherd’s Chapel Church.

He was preceded in death by his previous wife, Glenda; and his mother, Anna.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Murray of Gravette; his father, Arnold Murray of Gravette; his daughter, Jessica Lynn Murray Pike and husband Luther of Hiwasse; and his brother, Dennis Murray and wife Marion of Gravette.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 26, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home, Bella Vista. Arrangements are by Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.

Benjamin Tuttle

Lance Cpl. Benjamin W. Tuttle, 19 of Gentry, died July 14, 2013, at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany.

He was born Oct. 19, 1993, in Springdale. He graduated from Gentry High School. He was assigned to the Marine Aircraft Group 11, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing at Marine Corps Air Station in Miramar, Calif. He was a member of the Highfi ll Baptist Church and enjoyed fi shing, surfing and airplanes. After the death of his father, Jackie and Faye Tuttle adopted him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Steven Tuttle, on May 5, 2003; his paternal grandfather, Jackie Tuttle, on May 16, 2012.

Survivors include his maternal grandmother, Faye Seabolt Tuttle of Gentry; three brothers, Brandon Lee Tuttle of Russellville; Ricky Tuttle of Rogers, and Cameron Shane Freeman of Russellville.

Visitation will be 8 a.m. to noon on Thursday, July 25. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church, 221 W. Main, Gentry, with Roger Robins and Donnie Millsap officiating. Burial will follow in the Coffelt Cemetery at Vaughn. Arrangements are by Benton County Funeral Home, Rogers.

Walter David Millsap

Walter David Millsap, 78, went to be with the Lord on July 17, 2013, at the Siloam Springs Nursing Home and Rehab. He was born on August 11, 1934 in Muskogee, Okla., to Scott and Pauline Millsap.

David grew up in Muskogee and graduated from Muskogee High School in 1952. During his years in school he was a boxer and became a Northeastern Oklahoma Golden Gloves Champ in 1952 and 53. His boxing name was the “Blond Bomber”.

He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, receiving his degree in Industrial Arts and Coaching. During college, he met and married Loretta Parsley on December 17, 1955, in Tahlequah. They had three children Wally, Donnie and Martha, and in 1970 adopted two more, Edward and Kathy.

In 1956 he began teaching and coaching in Pineville, Mo. In 1959, the Millsaps moved to Gentry, where David became the school principal. In 1963, they moved to Glenpool, Okla., and he worked for one year as the school principal and then returned to Gentry in the fall of 1964. Until his retirement in 1986, Mr. Millsap worked for the Gentry School District as High School Principal, Guidance Counselor, Driver’s Education teacher and school bus driver. He had a Master’s Degree in Education and a Master’s in Counseling.

After his retirement he continued to farm at his home west of Gentry. Mr. Millsap stayed involved with the activities in the Gentry school system where many of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren attend. He loved watching the Pioneers, especially playing football and basketball, and rarely missed a game.

David became a Christian as a child and believed strongly in being an active member of his local church. He taught Sunday School and was an active deacon for many years at the First Baptist Church in Gentry. He loved missions and enjoyed supporting his children and grand-children on their many mission trips. Sharing Jesus was very important to him and he loved being a part of the Gideons International.

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter Bridgette Kay Millsap and grandson Joseph Edward Denny.

He is survived by three sons, Wally Millsap and wife Kay, of Gentry, Donnie Millsap and wife Sandy, of Gentry, Edward Millsap and wife Fern, of Siloam Springs; two daughters Martha Hawkins of Gentry and Kathy Hummingbird and husband Damon of Springtown. He leaves behind grandchildren, Heidi, Courtney and Austin; Melissa, Scott, Craig and Michael; Hannah; Matthew and Amanda; and Thomas Denny. Great-grandchildren Matthew and Houston; Rebekkah, Colleen, Isabelle, Shaun, Aaron, Katie, Jaxon, David, Demia, Kiana, Sydney, McKenzey, Dylan and Aiden, and two brothers, Bob Lewis Millsap of Dennison, Tex., and Franklin Leon Millsap of Sachse, Tex. For the last seven years he and his wife have hosted foreign exchange students and he was a loving “grandpa” to fourteen students from all over the world.

David was a supporter of the Benton County Fair, local 4-H clubs and several organizations that were special to young people. He will long be remembered for his story-telling, jokes and “Indian tricks”. He never met a stranger and always found someone to visit with.

Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2013, at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs.

Funeral service was at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday July 20th at the First Baptist Church in Gentry, with Dr. Robin Cowin and Bill Stiles officiating. Burial followed at the Springtown Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be sent to the Gideons International.
