Car show set for Saturday

Wednesday, July 31, 2013

DECATUR - There is something about opening the hood of a 2013 Ford Mustang and seeing its 302 cubic-inch power plant staring back that turns people into car junkies. Soon they will get a chance to drool over hot muscle cars and vintage rides of every variety.

The 10th annual Decatur Car Show, part of the Decatur BBQ, will be held on Saturday, Aug. 3, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. in Decatur Veterans Park. The park is located on Hwy. 102, about a mile northwest of the Arkansas Highways 59 and 102 junction in Decatur.

Last year’s show attracted around 50 vintage, classic and muscle cars from Decatur and the surrounding area. Organizers hope to top that number this weekend.

Besides cars, this year’s event is also open to motorcycles and choppers of many different varieties.

This show will be a judged event. Points will be given to each entry. Awards will be given to the top 20 vehicles in the show, as well as Best Car of Show, Best Truck of Show and Judges Choice.

Registration for the car show will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 12 noon. There is a $10 entry fee which will be collected at the time of registration.
