Woman faces moonshine charges after Gentry stop

Wednesday, July 31, 2013

GENTRY - Gentry police, earlier this month, obtained a felony warrant charging a woman with being in possession of moonshine.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, Christina Fendelander, 35, is being charged with the offense of manufacture, possession and transportation of illicitly distilled spirituous, vinous or malt liquors, otherwise know as moonshine.

The charges came about as a result of a traffic stop back on Nov. 16, 2012. Police stopped Fendelander when they saw her driving and knew her license was suspended. According to the affidavit, police saw a Mason jar with a clear liquid inside beside Fendelander on the seat which she identified as “moonshine.”

Fendelander was initially charged for driving on a suspended license. When results were received from the Arkansas Crime Lab, verifying the ethanol in the liquid from the jar, police sought and obtained a warrant for Fendelander’s arrest on the moonshine charge.

As of Monday morning, Fendelander remains at large. Anyone with information on Fendelander’s whereabouts is asked to call the Gentry Police Department at 736-8400.
