Dysart Family Concert

The musical Dysart Family will be holding a free concert at 7 p.m. Friday, June 21, at the Gentry Church of God (Holiness). Tiny Tot Contest

Entry forms are being accepted for the Gentry Tiny Tot Pageant to be held on July 4 in the city park. Applicants must be either 4 or 5 years old on July 1 and reside within the Gentry Public School District. The pageant theme is “Freedom Fest.” Judging will be based on adherence to the theme and the child’s personality and attitude demonstrated on stage during the interview. The pageant will begin at 6 p.m. on the performing pavilion. Children should check in at 5:30 p.m. Entry forms (available at city hall, the chamber office and Capp Salon) must be submitted no later than July 1 to Capp Salon on Highway 59 South in Gentry (across from La Huerta Restaurant).

GYO Dance Off

Gentry Youth Organization will sponsor the Gentry Pioneers “Dance Off” and “Karaoke Sing Off” from 4 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, in the Carl Gym on Main Street. Prizes and a live DJ are planned. Concessions will be available. Cost is $5 per student (ages 6-16). All proceeds will benefit Gentry’s GYO program. Rally for Christ

First Baptist Church, Sulphur Springs, will sponsor a 2013 Rally for Christ from 12 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, in Field Kindley Memorial Park in Gravette. The rally will feature gospel music and For His Glory Drama Ministry. Burgers and hot dogs will be served from noon until 2 p.m. All are invited to bring their chairs and enjoy the afternoon event.

Cornerstone Baptist VBS

Vacation Bible School will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. June 23 to 28 at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Gentry for childrenages preschool through sixth grade. There will also be a youth class. Theme of the VBS will be “The Sonwest Roundup.” The church is located at 24550 Floyd Moore Road. For more information call 736-5400.

Wheat Binding

Tired Iron of the Ozarks is planning to cut and bind wheat the old fashioned way as soon as the wheat has ripened and visitors are invited to come out and watch or help. The event is being tentatively planned for this weekend, depending on the wheat. Those interested in coming out are asked to call Glenn Smith at 736-2841 for the time and directions to the Charlie Lacy Farm.

Gravette Book Signing

A book signing will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, June 28, at the Gravette Public Library. Three area authors, Lou Honderich, Crow Johnson and Radine Nehring, will be on hand to discuss their writing, sign and sell copies of their works. Refreshments will be served.

Turn the Page Book Club

For the July gathering of the Turn the Page Book Club, readers will be swept into a world of family secrets all encased in an old haunted house in "The Fate of Mercy Alban" by Wendy Webb. Gentry Summer Reading

Gentry's Dig into Reading program will be held for children of all ages, with meetings every Tuesday and Thursday, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the library. Each child signing up will receive a free library card at Gentry Public Library. The card will allow children to attend library programs, check out books, work on the library computers and load ebooks. Digging machines is the theme of this week’s sessions. In the weeks following, the focus will be on archeology, dinosaurs, rocks, animals and crystals. Each week will include new, fun activities for participating children. Decatur Summer Reading

The summer readingprogram runs through June 21. The hours of operation are from 10 to 11:30 a.m. each day, and it is open to children, 6 to 9. Two activities planned for this year’s event include a visit from a representative of Hobbs State Park, who will talk about the forest and saving trees. A representative from the Spanish Treasure Cave will also present a part of the program called “Dig into Reading.” This activity deals with identifying and collecting rocks. The program is free. Vacation Bible School

Decatur United Methodist Church and Highfill United Methodist church will be having Vacation Bible School from 6 to 8 p.m., June 24 through June 28, at the Highfill United Methodist Church, located on Highway 12 in Highfill. This year’s theme will be “Kingdom Rock, Where Kids Stand Strong for God.” The program will include story time, projects, music and snacks. A VBS kickoff cookout is planned for 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, at the United Methodist Church in Highfill. Gentry UMC VBS

The Gentry United Methodist Church will hold its Vacation Bible School, "Everywhere Fun Fair," through June 20, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., for children ages 4 to those entering the sixth grade.

Gentry AG VBS

“God's Backyard Bible Camp” is the theme for this year’s Vacation Bible School at First Assembly of God in Gentry, at 821 East Main, just east of Dollar General. It began Sunday, June 16, and will continue through Friday, June 21, beginning at 6:30 p.m. each night. The VBS is for children, ages 4 to 11. All offerings received will go to Convoy of Hope to help with tornado relief. For more information, call 736-8415.

The regular monthly meeting of the Jolly Good Times Club will be held Wednesday, June 19, at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center in Gravette. Members will gather in the TV room at 10:15 a.m. Remember to bring greeting card fronts to the meeting. Mary Griffin will give the program and provide sandwich meat for the meal. Betty will bring salad; Susan, baked beans; and Hank and Emily, dessert. New members and visitors are always welcome.

Storytime Program

The storytime program at Gravette Public Library continues each Tuesday from 10:30 to 11 a.m. This storytime is for pre-kindergarten children.

Community Food Bank

Decatur Methodist Church offers a community food bank from 5 to 7 p.m. on the first and third Thursdays of each month, at 230 Third Street. The food pantry requires identification and proof that mail is received at an address in the 72722 zip code, such as a utility bill, rent deposit or bank statement. The USDA Commodity Program is also available. Proof of income is required. Those receiving food stamps are automatically qualified with an acceptance letter.

Decatur Food Pantry

United Christian Charities has opened a food pantry in downtown Decatur, across fromDecatur State Bank, for anyone needing food in the northwest Arkansas area. The hours of operation are Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The point of contact is Tina Holt, 435-5699.

Feed My Sheep Hours

The Feed My Sheep food pantry in Gravette is open each Thursday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Maysville Food Pantry

Maysville Missionary Baptist Church opens its food pantry, Our Healing Hearts, every fourth Sunday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for those in need.

Church Singing

Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist in Sulphur Springs holds a singing service every fourth Saturday of the month, starting at 6:30 p.m. A potluck dinner follows. For more information, call Jheri Roberts, the pastor, at 752-7082.

Praise and Worship

Maysville Missionary Baptist Church holds a praise and worship service at 6 p.m. every third Sunday night, with refreshments following.

Tired Iron of the Ozarks

Regular meetings of the Tired Iron of the Ozarks are held at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at the Tired Iron clubhouse located at the club’s show grounds on Taylor Orchard Road southwest of Gentry. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, July 16.

Gravette American Legion

Gravette American Legion Post 20 meets the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend. The next meeting is July 16.

Gravette Kiwanis

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m., the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.

Men's Fellowship

First Baptist Church of Gentry has a monthly men's fellowship gathering at 8 a.m. on the third Saturday of each month. All men are welcome to come for food and fellowship. Guests are welcome. For more information, contact Madden Waits at 736-5009.

VFW Meetings

Decatur VFW Post 9834 meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. New members and guests are welcome. The facility is three miles east of Decatur on Arkansas Highway 102, right on Tilly’s Hill Road, and the first building on the right.
