In spite of losses to larger schools, Gentry girls' softball teams show promise for the season

GENTRY - The Gentry Lady Pioneers lost on the softball diamond to Siloam Springs on Monday by a score of 11-5.

Gentry took a 5-2 lead in the fifth inning, with three runs on three hits in the inning.

Siloam rallied back in the sixth and seventh innings, scoring nine runs on eight hits and three Gentry errors.

The Lady Pioneers were led by Rindy Hudson 2-3, with two runs scored, Shannea Smartt 0-2 with two RBIs. Jordan Olds was 2-3 with two RBIs, and Heather Marshall was 2-4 with one RBI.

Gentry played Rogers on Thursday and put up a great fight. Gentry had a five-run fifth inning started off with a tworun home run by Rindy Hudson.

The Lady Pioneers took a 5-3 lead going into the sixth inning, but Rogers bounced back with two runs in the top of the sixth to tie the game at five runs each.

Gentry scored again after a slap single by Jordan Olds to score Rindy Hudson, and Gentry hada 6-5 lead going into the seventh inning.

Rogers then scored five runs on three hits and a pair of costly errors by the Lady Pioneers, and then held off Gentry in the bottom of the seventh for a 10-6 win.

Gentry was led by Rindy Hudson 3-4 with a home run and two RBIs.Heather Marshall was 2-3, and Rebecca Evans was 1-4 with two RBIs.

The Gentry girls also lost a game against Siloam Springs, 5-4, in tournament play on Saturday. No further information on the game or tournament play for Gentry was available at press time.
