Decatur Bible Study

Vincent Xavier, pastor of New Wine Ministry in Decatur and Bella Vista, will present a 12-week series of 90-minute sessions on the book of Revelation. Meetings are held on Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. at the Gallery Cafe in Decatur. The meetings are free, but a love offering may be given. Chili Supper, Pie Auction

A chili supper, pie auction and miscellaneous sale to benefit Rick and Vicky Johnston, former Gravette restaurant owners, and help them with medical expenses following Rick’s surgery, will be held at the Tri-State Auto Auction on Beaty Road, west of Gravette, at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, March 23. The benefit event is being cosponsored by Maysville Baptist Church and Tri-State Auto Auction. For more information or to donate items, call Rosetta Selby at 787-6510. Benefit Poker Run

A benefit poker run, chicken basket dinner and auction for Reuben Barnes will be held on March 23 at the Decatur Livestock Auction. Signup for the poker run will begin at 8 a.m. The first bike will go out at 9 a.m. and the last bike will go out at 10 a.m. The cost will be $25 per hand and additional draws will cost $10. Chicken basket dinners can be picked up starting at noon, and the live auction will start at 3 p.m. For more information, call 752-3912.

Cemetery Cleanup

Spring cleanup is planned at Springtown Cemetery on Saturday, March 23, beginning at 9 a.m. Community members and family and friends of those buried in the cemetery are invited to come and help beautify the cemetery. Bringing gloves, rakes and other lawn and garden tools is suggested.

Hot Roll Fundraiser

The Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center is taking orders for hot rolls through Wednesday, March 27. Price is $5 per dozen. Call 787-5950 to order. Delivery is available to Gravette businesses. Other orders must be picked up between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Friday, March 29, at the center, located at 1870 Limekiln Road. Proceeds go to the Meals on Wheels program and daily operations.

Easter Egg Hunt

The Gentry Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, in the Gentry City Park. There will be four age groups for participants, ages 1 through 10. Several hundred prizes will be given away. A grand prize of a bicycle will also be awarded in each of the age groups. The bike sponsors are AEP/SWEPCO/AECC, McDonalds, Jay Williams Law Office and Gentry Bank.

Decatur Easter Egg Hunt

The Decatur Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 30, in Veterans Park. There will be a special prize for the boy and girl who gathers the most eggs in each age category, as well as two grand prizes of a boy’s and girl’s bicycle. A golden egg will be hidden for each age category.

Highfill will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, in Highfill's city park. Logan 4-H will be helping with the event.

Eggstravaganza

Decatur Assembly of God will host its annual community "Easter Egg Hunt Eggstravaganza" at 1 p.m.on Saturday, March 30. Thousands of eggs will fall from the sky as the church celebrates with its first-ever helicopter drop. The hunt will take place on the campus of DAG Church at 675 N. Main, Decatur. There will be five hunting areas for children, ages 0-12. Prizes will be awarded in each age division. Ability Tree, Inc., will be providing a designated hunting area for children with special needs. Maysville Sunrise Service

An Easter Sunrise Service for the Maysville community will be held at 7 a.m. Easter Sunday morning, March 31, at the Maysville Missionary Baptist Church.

Talbot Library Workshop

Chili Supper, Pie Auction

Highfill Fire Department will hold a chili supper from 4 to 8 p.m., with a pie auction at 6 p.m., on Saturday, April 20, at the Highfill Fire Station to assist Don King with medical expenses. King is a Highfill firefighter and former police officer and is currently employed by Benton County Central Communications. Gardening Seminar

Springtown Seventh-day Adventist Church will hold a Master Gardening Seminar from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, April 7, at the church, 12444 Fairmount Rd. (2.7 miles east on Hwy. 12 in Gentry, then south on Fairmount Rd.). Tony Licausi will have a session on “Organic Gardening,” and Marci Vaughn on “Herbs, A Place to Begin,” in this free community program.

Spring Cleanup

Decatur will hold its annual spring clean up on April 18. Large or bulky waste will be picked up at the curb with regular trash. For more information about what items will be accepted and what items are not allowed, call city hall at 752-3912.

Pickin’ Time

Springtime Pickin’ Time will be held in Gentry and Decatur on May 2 through 5. The event is sponsored by the Gentry and Decatur Chambers of Commerce. Participants are encouraged to host garage and rummage sales, as well as antique and collectible events. Anyone wishing to set up in Gentry but not having a space may contact Bev Saunders at 736-2358. Gentry City Council has waived the requirement for garage sale permits for that weekend. Participants are responsible for their own advertising, set up, take down and cleanup.

NWA Riding Club will be holding bi-weekly playdays starting on April 6. The family-friendly events will include western pleasure, barrel racing, pole bending, flag races and speed competitions for all ages — from leadline for the youngest riders to the “Geritol” class for adult riders. Playdays will be held at Luca Don Arena, at 23236 W. Arkansas Highway 12, west of Gentry. Fees are $60 a year per family and include all competitions. Math-A-Thon

Students at Decatur Northside Elementary School are participating in the St. Jude’s Math-A-Thon. The school has set a goal to raise $1,500. Community members and businesses that would like to donate to help the school reach its fundraising goals can contact the school office at 752-3981.

City Government

Anyone interested in Sulphur Springs’ city government, wanting to run for public office, or desiring to know how city ordinances affect them is invited to attend a free seminar from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on the evening of April 4 at the Shiloh Retreat Center Dining Hall. The seminar will be hosted by former Mayor Harris Steele and will cover the history of Sulphur Springs’ government, the mayor and council form of governing and city ordinances. Community Gardens

Ground is being prepared at Gravette Community Gardens for those who wish to cultivate a free 12’x12’ or 12’x24’ plot this spring and summer. Applications and rules can be picked up and dropped off at the Bank of Gravett, Arvest Bank, Care and Share or Gravette City Hall. The garden is located across from Arvest Bank on Arkansas Highway 59. Plots will be assigned on a firstcome, first-served basis. Some seeds and plants will be provided. Community members, families and civic groups are invited to take part. A portion of each plot’s produce will be donated to charity. For questions, contact Miriam at 787-5032.

Community Food Bank

Decatur Methodist Church offers a community food bank from 5 to 7 p.m. on the first and third Thursdays of each month, at 230 Third Street. The food pantry requires identification and proof that mail is received at an address in the 72722 zip code, such as a utility bill, rent deposit or bank statement.

Decatur Food Pantry

United Christian Charities has opened a food pantry in downtown Decatur, across from Decatur State Bank, for anyone needing food in the northwest Arkansas area. The hours of operation are Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The point of contact is Tina Holt, 435-5699.

Feed My Sheep Hours

The Feed My Sheep food pantry in Gravette is open each Thursday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Maysville Food Pantry

Maysville Missionary Baptist Church opens its food pantry, Our Healing Hearts, every fourth Sunday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for those in need.

Church Singing

Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist in Sulphur Springs holds a singing service every fourth Saturday of the month, starting at 6:30 p.m. A potluck dinner follows. For more information, call Jheri Roberts, the pastor, at 752-7082.

Praise and Worship

Maysville Missionary Baptist Church holds a praise and worship service at 6 p.m. every third Sunday night, with refreshments following.

Tired Iron of the Ozarks

Regular meetings of the Tired Iron of the Ozarks are held at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at the Tired Iron clubhouse located at the club’s show grounds on Taylor Orchard Road southwest of Gentry. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, April 16.

Gravette American Legion

Gravette American Legion Post 20 meets the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend. The next meeting is April 16.

Gravette Kiwanis

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Men's Fellowship

First Baptist Church of Gentry has a monthly men's fellowship gathering at 8 a.m. on the third Saturday of each month. All men are welcome to come for food and fellowship. Guests are welcome. For more information, contact Madden Waits at 736-5009.

VFW Meetings

Decatur VFW Post 9834 meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. New members and guests are welcome. The facility is three miles east of Decatur on Arkansas Highway 102, right on Tilly’s Hill Road, and the first building on the right.
