GENTRY - The Gentry Pioneers lost in nonconference tournament play at the McDonald’s Classic in Springdale on March 15-16, losing to Carthage (Mo.), 10-1; Siloam Springs, 11-1; and Gravette, 15-5.

Though tied at one apiece after two innings on March 15, Carthage blew the game open in the top of the third, with eight players crossing home plate. Carthage added another run in the fourth for the final score.

Gentry had only three hits in the game, and one RBI by Dusty Haag. The Pioneers went down swinging 11 times in the game.

Siloam Springs jumped ahead in the top of the first on Saturday, March 16, with two runs, and added another two in the second before Gentry scored its only run in the bottom of the inning. Siloam added another three in the fourth and four in the fifth to seal the victory.

Gentry had three hits in the game to Siloam’s five, but the Pioneers were charged with eight errors in the game. Dustin Stoufflet, Garrett Roberts and Dusty Haag picked up Gentry’s only hits.

Against Gravette, the Pioneers and Lions each picked up a run in the first on March 16; but the Pioneers came apart in the top of the second, with the Lions slugging in 12 runners.

The Lions added two in the third, and the Pioneers played strong in the fifth, putting three runners across the plate.

Gentry had seven hits in the game, to Gravette’s 15. Tucker Willett had two hits. Ethan Barnes picked up a sacrifice RBI. Dustin Stoufflett and Dusty Haag had a hit and an RBI. Austin Cochran got two hits, and Ryan Coots, one.

No statistics were available for Gravette.
