LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Editor,

The Maysville Fire Department held a concealed carry handgun license class fundraiser at the Maysville Community Building on Saturday, April 13. The 18-student class was taught by Benton County Sheriff Kelley Cradduck and fellow instructor Major Rob Holly.

On behalf of the Maysville Fire Department, I would like to thank Sheriff Cradduck and Major Holley for their time spent instructing and sharing their knowledge in the class. Thanks also to all who attended the class.

The class covered all aspects of concealed carry safety, home intrusion, trespassing, using deadly force and also the real world experience of the instructors.

The class was attended not only by Benton County residents but also by some of our neighboring northwest Arkansas counties’ residents as well.

The class was a fundraiser for the Maysville Fire Department and the department raised the equivalent of 5 percent of its annual operational budget. This money will go a long way this year, providing the department with fuel, firefighting protective gear and lifesaving medical supplies, such as automatic emergency defibrillators.

There may be another opportunity to take the class in the near future. This class will be hosted by the Maysville 4-H Club. Contact Nikki Crawley at 291-4552 for additional information.
