Parents make a difference

GRAVETTE - Thursday, March 28, was the sixth annual “Parents Make the Difference” Night. Two hundred and nine parents and students gathered at the Upper Elementary for this event. There were 28 staff members present. This was the greatest attendance ever recorded.

This meeting was designed to provide parents with Benchmark related information. Teachers presented information about the open response items that are on the exam. Then students from each grade level competed against each other to determine the Benchmark Exam Experts (BEE). Students were shown multiple choice questions and had to “buzz” in with the correct answer, making the event a very exciting time for the students and the audience.

First place students received trophies, and the runners-up each received a medal. Students who came willing to participate but whose names did not get drawn to compete received a consolation prize.

The evening concluded with a meal. Food items were donated by the Upper Elementary PTO and Sonic of Moberly Lane (Bentonville). Arvest Bank contributed funds to purchase the consolation prizes and granola bars from McKee Foods. The tasty hot dogs were grilled by Bo Moon. Many members of the Upper Elementary staff volunteered their time as well. Everyone’s help was much appreciated.
