Saturday, May 11, is Postal Employees Food Pickup Day. Hang a can or two of non-perishables on your mailbox for your carrier to pick up and deliver to the food bank.

There was a little bird at my hummingbird feeder early Friday morning. I bet he thought Mother Nature had sure played a trick on him.

We can expect another cold spell May 10, 21 and 25. You know the old saying “Thunder in February, frost in May.” Hopefully, the others won’t be so cold.

Ronnie Austin has spent some time in the hospital this week. Hopefully he is soon home and feeling much better. Angie Walker is home recovering from surgery. Hope she is soon lots better.

Mr. and Mrs. Dale Henry spent the weekend in Junction City, Kan., visiting Dale’s brother.

Lofty and Dale Lynn Carrier have spent a few days here visiting family and caring for Maxine Holloway while Dale and Lamarise were gone.

Did you ever see such huge snowflakes as those that fell Saturday morning? Thankfully the ground was wet enough they didn’t stick.

Mr. and Mrs. Lofty Carrier hosted a birthday lunch for their son Skylar on Sunday. Others helping him celebrate were Stephanie, Lamarise, Grandma Holloway, Uncle Ward and Aunt Paula, Gabe, Mr. and Mrs. Brian Carrier, Trevor and Emily Blevins and myself.

Pam Bertschy is home recovering from surgery.

Tami Presley is staying with Mr. and Mrs. Larry Keith for a few days while recovering from illness.

Bill Habermehl is suffering from illness.

Rick Banks is not well again.

Remember all the sick ones in your prayers.

May 8, 1987, the record high of 95 degrees at Redding, Calif., was the fifth record-high day in a row. Redding was in the grip of a heat wave lasting nearly two weeks.
