Edna Breckenridge

Edna Lea Breckenridge, 87 of Colcord, Okla., died Sunday, May 05, 2013, at her home.

She was born Dec. 1, 1925, in Colcord to Walter and Annie Wofford Spence. She married Floyd Breckenridge on Nov. 15, 1942, in Cherokee City. She was a homemaker and a member of Tonnece Holiness Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers and five sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Floyd Breckenridge and wife Peggy of Owasso, Okla., and Stephen Breckenridge and wife Misti of Colcord; one daughter, Beverly Cobb and husband Bill of Colcord; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 8, at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs. Burial will follow at Dickson Cemetery, Cherokee City. Arrangements are by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Darlene Maxfield

Darlene Viola Maxfield, 57, of Siloam Springs, died April 29, 2013, at Willard Walker Hospice Home, Fayetteville.

She was born June 6, 1955, to Duane Hanks and Wanda Naomi Hanks. She married Thomas Maxfield in Muscatine, Iowa, on June 5, 1986. They moved to Siloam Springs in 2003. She worked in the accounting office of Walmart for more than 20 years and was a member of New Life Church, Siloam Springs.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her adopted father, Duane Hanks; and one brother, Robert Hampton.

Survivors include one daughter, Khrystal Meixner and husband Melvin of Siloam Springs; two grandsons; her mother of Plainview, Neb.; her birthfather, Don Hampton and wife Wynelle of Houston, Texas; five sisters, Colleen Brown of Oklahoma, Dawn Aloha Baxter and husband Troy of Michigan; Robyn Schlung and husband Victor of Washington, Renee Hanks of Iowa; Shannon Hampton of Houston, Texas; two brothers, Daniel Hanks and wife Anita of Nebraska and Mike Hampton of Houston.

Memorial services were held May 4 at New Life Church, Siloam Springs, with Tim Estes officiating. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Norma Jean Pitts

Norma Jean Pitts, 83, formerly of Gentry, died May 1, 2013, at Quail Ridge Living Center, West Siloam Springs, Okla.

She was born Jan. 18, 1930, in Peoria, Ill., to Roy Neavear and Johnnie Ashmore Neavear. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sandy Stone, and two brothers, Wayne Neavear and Roy Edward Neavear.

Survivors include two sons, Philip Phipps of Gentry, and Van Phipps of Siloam Springs; one daughter, Eva Parkman of Southwest City, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 12 greatgrandchildren; and one brother, Robert Neavear of Siloam Springs.

Memorial services will be private. Arrangements are by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Cynthia Todd

Cynthia Lee “Cindi” Todd, 55, of Southwest City, Mo., died Sunday, April 28, 2013, at her home.

She was born Jan. 22, 1958, in Honolulu, Hawaii, the daughter of Charles and Louise (Stortz) Rugg. She was raised in various parts of the country due to her father’s military service. She graduated from Gravette High School in 1976 and lived all of her adult life in Gravette and Southwest City, Mo. She married Ralph Carl Todd on June 24, 1989. She was employed for more than 25 years at Gravette Manor, working in administration. She later worked for Bentonville Manor and Heritage Park. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with her grandchildren and shopping with her family. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Casandra Rugg.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph Todd of the home; three daughters, Amee Todd of Southwest City, Joy King of Tulsa, Okla., and Leslie Gerber, also of Tulsa; a son, Joshua Todd, of Southwest City; nine grandchildren; a brother, William Rugg of Olathe, Kan.

Funeral services were May 2, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church near Sulphur Springs, with Jherri Roberts officiating. Burial was in Lee Cemetery.

L. Philip Young

Lawrence Philip (Phil) Young, 97, of Gravette, died Saturday, April 27, 2013, in Bentonville.

He was born to Ezra Lawrence Young and Aner Elizabeth Kellogg on August 23, 1915, in Youngstown, Ohio. Mr. Young spent his childhood in Trumansburg, N.Y., where he graduated from high school. He attended Technical School for three years in Detroit, Mich., and was employed as plant engineer for Michigan Bell Telephone starting in 1937. During World War II, he served more than three years in the Army Signal Corps as a Tech-Sgt. stationed in Australia until his discharge in September, 1945, from Camp Crowder, Neosho, Mo. He resumed his position with Michigan Bell until his retirement in 1979.

He married Wyoma Frances Jenkins of Gravette July 19, 1945, in Kansas City, Mo., and the couple made their home in Livonia, Mich., until they retired in Gravette.

In Michigan he was active in work with Boy Scouts of America and the Rotary Club. In Gravette he was a member of the Gravette Kiwanis Club and the Gravette United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Wyoma Young; two sons, Lawrence P. Young, Jr., of Springdale and Dennis C. Young of Gravette; one daughter, Janet L. Sebela and husband Jeff; and granddaughters, Jennifer and Janelle, all of Belding, Mich.

Arrangements were by Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.

When God brings forth a new born soul to learn the ways of earth,

When God calls home a tired soul and stills a fitful breath

Love divine is waiting there. That too is birth: not death.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Gravette United Methodist Church with pastor Phil Sturdy officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Gravette.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Gravette United Methodist Church.
