DECATUR - It's almost time for the 10th annual Community Fishing Derby in Decatur.

The event is set for Saturday, June 1, at Crystal Lake. Registration is from 8:15 to 9 a.m., with fishing derby time being from 9 to 11 a.m.

Fishing will be in the overflow section of the lake, unless the water level makes it necessary to move to the main portion of the lake.

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will again stock the overflow pond with catchable-size catfish. Children will be allowed to catch up to three catfish from the overflow pond for the contest. All state fishing regulations must be followed. Children may continue to fish in the main portion of the lake until weigh-in if they have caught their three-fish limit for the contest.

There will be four age divisions: 1 to 4, 5 to 7, 8 to 11 and 12 to 14 years of age. Each child must be accompanied by an adult and only one rod or fishing pole per child may be used.

Weigh-in will be at 10:30 a.m. for ages 1 to 7 and at 11 a.m. for ages 8 to 14. All participants will receive prizes, and a picnic lunch will be provided for the children and their families.

The event is sponsored by the Decatur Assembly of God Big Fisherman/ Little Fisherman Community Fishing Program and all donation sponsors.

Pre-registration forms are available at dagchurch.com and local businesses.
