George Clark

George Elmer Clark, 86, of Gentry, died May 21, 2013, at Siloam Springs Nursing and Rehab, Siloam Springs.

He was born June 1, 1926, in La Junta, Colo., to Leslie George Clark and Sarah Clark. He was raised in the Berryville area and was a dairy farmer. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and moved to the Gentry area in the 1970s. He was a member of the Dairy Association and was of the Christian faith. He married Betty J. Vermillion True, in Miami, Okla., on July 31, 1981.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Oscar Clark, Clifford Clark and Roy Clark; and one sister Ruth Johnson.

Survivors include his wife Betty of the home; three sons, Donnie G. Clark of Siloam Springs, Jimmy R. Clark of Gentry, and Roy E. Clark of Eureka Springs; two daughters, Robin Clark, and Tammy Clark, both of Eureka Springs; five stepdaughters, Janice Smith, Marion Pollard, Darleen Evans, Debbie Taylor, and Carla Beeman, all of Gentry; and one stepson, Richard True of Bentonville; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services were May 23 at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, with Mark Rotramel officiating. Burial followed at Springtown Cemetery, Springtown. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Joy Gordon

Joy Darlene Gordon, 83, of Enid, Okla., and formerly of Gentry, died on May 23, 2013.

She was born Sept. 18, 1929, to Everett and Viola (Clark) Dailey in Weatherford, Okla. She attended and graduated from Gentry High School in Gentry. She met Ned Gordon in high school and they later married on Oct. 9, 1949. At the age of 10 Joy accepted Christ and was baptized in Flint Creek in Arkansas. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for many years and later attended Cedar Ridge Wesleyan Church. She supported missions. She was an assistant manager at Braums for more than 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Joy is survived by three children, Dale Gordon of Tulsa, Kay Stair of Tulsa and Jan Colbert of Del City, Okla.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Golda Mae Lawson.

Funeral services for Gordon were held May 28 in the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Chapel, in Enid, with Tom Pullin officiating. Burial followed in the Enid Cemetery. Arrangements were by the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Chapel, in Enid.

Wilbur Holland

Wilbur Lee Holland, 91, of Gentry, died May 21, 2013, at his home.

He was born Nov. 22, 1921, in Highfill, to Robert A. Holland and Vira Hammon Tree Holland. He was a lifetime resident of Highfill, where he was a dairy farmer and raised roses. He lived his entire life in the same home in which he was born and died. He married Esther Mary Knowles on Feb. 28, 1954. He was a member of the Rogers Garden Club and the Methodist Church in Highfill.

He was preceded in death by his wife on Aug. 4, 2009; one son, Bob Holland; one stepson, Johnny Nichols; and two sisters, Bonnie Jean Keeling and Roberta Horton.

Survivors include two sons, Joe Holland and Gary Holland, both of Highfill; one daughter, Patty Webb of Decatur; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one brother-in-law, Eugene Keeling of Rogers.

Funeral services were May 24 at the Methodist Church in Highfill, with Russ Hall and Bruce Holland officiating. Burial followed at Springtown Cemetery in Springtown. Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.
