Lions pounce on Bobcats

— The Berryville Bobcats didn’t stand a chance against the Lions on Friday, even with their home-field advantage. The Lions out scored the Bobcats in all but one quarter and brought home a decisive 30-12 victory.

The Lions were first to score, picking up a touchdown and a point after kick in the first quarter anda field goal in the second. In the second half, Berryville finally got on the board with a touchdown, but it was matched by the Gravette offense, making it a 16-16 game as the fi nal quarter began. Berryville managed another touchdown but failed in the point-after attempt, while Gravette picked up another two touchdowns along with good point-after kicks by Cedric Duarte.

Gravette’s points werescored by Duarte - two touchdowns, a fi eld goal and three PAT kicks, for 18 points - Jordan Burnett - TD - and Shay Shimer -TD on a received pass.

Aaron Means and Josh Lockhart both picked up interceptions in the game for the Lions.

Duarte led the Lions in yards running, with 208. He also picked up another 17 yards by pass receptions, for a total of 225. Cody Robinson had 63rushing yards and another 19 in receptions. Wyatt Banta passed for 64 yards in the game.

Tyler Kerley had 7 tackles and seven assists. Michael Olvera had 5 tackles and 12 assists in the game.

The win puts the Lions at 3-6 for the season.

They host the Prairie Grove Tigers (8-1) at 7 p.m. on Friday.
