McKee Foods to hold America Recycles Day

— McKee Foods is inviting area residents to take part in the second annual America Recycles Day, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14, and 6 a.m. to noon on Friday, Nov. 15, by bringing electronics, paper items and even used tires to the back of the Little Debbie Bakery Store for recycling.

Computers, cameras, printers, copiers, phones, stereos, televisions, fax machines, electronic cables, ink cartridges, paper shredders, microwaves, DVD and VCR players, video game consoles, satellite receivers, handheld devices, PDAs, iPods, and more will be accepted.

Paper shredding will be available, and offi ce paper, magazines, newspapers, catalogs, phone books and paperback books will be accepted.

Tires, too, will be accepted. They should be clean - no oversized tires - and are limited to 10 passenger vehicle tires or five truck tires per person. Tires must be off rims.

Used eyeglasses will be recycled through the Gentry Lions Club and be used to give the gift of sight to those who need the glasses.

There is no charge for the recycling service.

McKee Foods’ facility in Gentry has been able to reduce its waste through recycling and sends nothing to the landfi ll. McKee Foods is assisting Gentry residents to cut back on waste sent to the landfi ll through recycling events such as America Recycles Day.
