— Police are still seeking leads in a burglary and theft which took place at Cherokee Auto Sales and Frankie’s Garage sometime on the weekend just prior to Sept. 30.

According to police reports, an unknown person or persons appear to have gained entry to Cherokee Auto Sales by breaking out a window in the back door of the business.

Both businesses were vandalized, car windows were broken out and graffiti, which included names of owners and employees, was spray painted in numerous places.

A safe was cut open with a blow torch, and money and tools (including a mechanic’s tool box and tools valued at more than $20,000) were among items stolen.

Two of the vehicles vandalized were customers’ cars in the shop area.

Police are asking that anyone with any information on the crime or the possible whereabouts of the stolen items call the Gentry Police Department at 736-8400.
