Proposed budget includes pay raise

— While it will yet undergo careful review by the council, with changes possible, Mayor Kevin Johnston submitted a proposed 2014 budget to the council at its Nov. 4 meeting which includes a 2 percent pay increase for city employees.

In the General Fund, total revenues are anticipated at $1,506,093 with total expenses budgeted at $1,408,856, leaving more than $97,000 for unexpected expenses or carry over into the next year.

In the County Tax proposed budget, incoming revenue (including savings) is anticipated at $641,855, with budgeted expenses at $548,000, leaving $93,855 in surplus for carry over into the next year.

The Street and Alley budget anticipates incoming revenue of nearly $1.047 million, with expenses budgeted for $998,415.

Gentry’s Water and Sewer budget includes income of nearly $4 million and expenses of $3.616 million.

The Public Library budget anticipates income of nearly $129,000 and expenses of $114,578.
