— Fundraising has begun for the annual Love Lights a Tree celebration in Gravette.

The project, now in its 17th year, raises money for the American Cancer Society. Donors receive an ornament to put on the tree in Gravette’s Centennial Park in memory or in honor of persons they choose. The tree will be lit at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6.

Red, white and blue lights will decorate the tree, along with the names of honored family members and friends. White lights are in memory of those who have died, red lights honor survivors and blue lights represent those in the military or anyone you would like to remember during this holiday season.

Ruth Foster, chairperson of the event, invites all in the area to donateand to bring their family to join in the tree lighting ceremony. A $5 donation is suggested for each light. Donations should also include the name of the person to be honored on the tree, what color light should be featured and the donor’s name and relationship to the honoree.

Donations and information should be sent to “Love Lights A Tree,” P.O. Box 116, Gravette, AR72736 or may be given to Ruth Foster or her assistants, Coleen Dickinson and Mary Beth Mitchell.

Foster expressed special thanks to the Gravette city crew who helped organize this project and decorate the tree.

“Come and enjoy this special event and help us kick off this loving holiday season,” she said. “Love truly lights our tree. Thank you for your continued support !”
