E.H. CLUB NEWS

Maysville E.H. met at the Community Building Thursday Nov 21st for an afternoon meeting with 13 members present. Orpha Wardlaw called the meeting to order and welcomed our guest, Gerene Treat. After the Pledge of Allegiance, Melinda Crawley led the song, “A Whole New World,” and then gave two short readings, “Aren’t You Glad,” and “Give Thanks Only.”

Berti Ray gave an interesting lesson on “Changing Your Look with Accessories.” Berti and Melinda modeled changing scarves, jackets and jewelry for a completely different look with the same outfi t. ThenOrpha modeled several of her collection of vintage hats, which we all enjoyed seeing.

A helpful hint is to use equal amounts of plain yogurt as a low-fat alternative to dairy sour cream.

Carol Loux showed a vintage Maysville EH cookbook which was published in 1951. The recipes were all hand written and were by residents of Maysville at that time.

Katherine Tucker read the minutes and gave the treasurer’s report. Roll was called, with members telling their favorite item with which to accessorize.

Sylvia Tucker gave a report on the building use, and Gwen Singleton onthe workshop she attended about putting together a club project book to be sent to state for judging.

Several items of business were discussed including the need for signs to use when we have various events, also the need for purchasing new dust and wet mops for cleaning. We talked about problems with light switches and progress on the new roof for the building. Orpha asked everyone that could to make pies for the Maysville Fire Department fundraiser. We will have our club Christmas party Dec. 10 at the home of Bert Ballman.

The meeting was dismissed with the benediction.
